Tallylyn Railway Summer 2022 (4/5)
Here's a more Pendre focused set. I'd actually been down to the Fairburn Railway on that day as we (myself and my poor, suffering grandparents) went for a womble to Barmouth and beyond. Gotta remember to post those videos too. They were kind enough to leave me in Towyn to make my own way home, and I was planning on simply sitting around on Pendre's platform and trying to see what I could from there.
About half an hour of awkward standing about being too shy to ask later, I was summoned over by the working staff and essentially told 'stay off the running lines, but other than that you're fine, go nuts!'
More magical words I have never heard in my life.
And so I probably spent two hours titting about, photographing everything that did and didn't move, sheltering from the rain within the shed (which was probably the most magical part of all) and I even got to help shut the shed at the end of it all. Rain was terrible on the way back and my umbrella could barely stand up to it, but it was absolutely worth it. I'm rather excited that the up-and-coming plans for the work to be done at Pendre in the near future will actually open up the old sheds as a more visitor-friendly and accessible experience. It might remove a bit of the charm of what is as close as a 21st-century person can get to an authentic 60's shed bunk, but it's nice to know others will be able to get a look in.
