Did you know that U2 was slightly redone and just called the TR-1 •Structurally, the TR-1 was identical to the U-2R but featured a new generation of sensors, such as synthetic aperture radar, capable of peering deep into enemy territory from international airspace.
•Consolidation: In 1992, the Air Force simplified its fleet naming, and all TR-1s were redesignated as U-2Rs. Today, all remaining active models have been upgraded and are designated as U-2S.
