A rare cause of Transient ischemic attack in a young patient: left ventricular non-compaction with a voluminous thrombus by H Foudad in International Journal of Clinical Images and Medical Reviews
A 25-year-old man was admitted in our department for management of a transient ischemic attack. It’s a patient without prior medical history.
He underwent echocardiography, which demonstrating in parasternal long axis view an important dilatation of left ventricle with reduced ejection fraction and severe hypokinesis (figure A).2-dimensional parasternal short axis show multiple prominent ventricular trabeculation with deep intertrabecular recesses particularly in the anterior lateral wall (figure B and C) associated with a voluminous thrombus of 21x11mm (figure D and E).
The patient also underwent cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
The final diagnosis was left ventricular non-compaction with a voluminous thrombus complicated with a transient ischemic attack. The patient is put under classic treatment of heart failure associated with an anticoagulant treatment.
