We were up bright and early to catch our train to Paris. Before heading down to the platform, we decided to check out King’s Cross and it’s beautiful glass ceiling. It did not disappoint.
The Eurostar to Paris was a very smooth and relaxing journey. We definitely prefer train travel to flying; gorgeous views and barely any waiting. We arrived into Paris Nord around lunchtime and our first views as we climbed the stairs out of the train station was of the Eiffel Tower. What a sight!
It didn’t take long to drop off our bags and we were off again to explore a new city. We walked around the entire grounds beneath the Eiffel Tower. From the grassy parks below, across the D’lena Bridge and up to the Trocadéro where we found the best views. Spring flowers blossomed unexpectedly to give us some fantastic photo opportunities.
As we started to get peckish, we found a nearby cafe that was serving up traditional food. Sarah ordered a Croque Monsieur and Julia tried the Croque Madame. Another couple of ticks off the food bucket list. It was then back to the hotel for a bit of a rest after a long day.
In the early evening we ventured out again for dessert. We couldn’t pass up the opportunity to savour traditional French crepes. Julia got a caramel apple dessert, while Sarah tried the mint chocolate option. They were easily the best crepes we’ve ever had! Warmed up by the sugar, and some tea, we walked back to the Eiffel Tower to take in the night show. The Eiffel Tower sparkled and shimmered with hundreds of lights as the hourly show lit up the Parisian night. Time for bed as we have another busy day planned for tomorrow.
