I woke up around 5:30am this morning feeling reenergized. I wanted to squeeze all I could out of the two days I have remaining living and working in this magical place.
As I was having my coffee I saw an email from writer/producer/blogger Tracey Jackson. She had attended the event celebrating the last few days of the artist survival shack project and had written about it on her blog. I enjoyed reading her impressions of the project. It is always special when someone really connects with the work. http://www.traceyjacksononline.com/2013/08/surviving-as-an-artist/#.UiIJ0aa9LCQ
At 9am I was right back into the word-based stencil and spray paint works. They have evolved over my time in the shack and I am happy with where they have gone. By the afternoon I had stencils strewn all over the shack.
Veronika Vogler and I had arranged to continue our texting interview/conversation later today. Around 9pm we began and did another two and a half hour session. We started with Martin Heidegger’s hut in the Black Forest of Germany, moved on to awareness, the essential vs. the accidental, ethics, Nazis, political art and came back to awareness in the end. It was another unusual and beautiful experience in the shack.
I worked on stencils until about 1am and then went outside. It was clear and the stars were amazing.
