I am so proud of myself I ran a 6:59 mile today and then placed 3rd in the 800 meter run and I've never run so good -screams-
Stop for a second and give me a minute. Indulge me, just go with it. Imagine music. Some ambient soundscape, droney reverbs. Throw in some doom and some really sludgy guitar. Then, some math rock and disorientating repetition. So far so good. Now throw some saxophone to the mix. That's weird, but make it weirder still by adding not just any sax, but that sax from Pharaoh Sanders and the whole free/mystical jazz from the 60s. You know what, just bring that whole scene to the party. One big cross-atlantic party that crossed centuries and generations to evoke our deepest tribal roots in Africa.
It doesn't work, does it? It's unimaginable. And yet, here it is. One of the most daring things I've heard all year.
