Track 26 - Time Tunnel (1996)
This is one of those tracks that just happened. I was working on one sequence in the MMT8 with this set of sounds, and inadvertently switched to another. This song was the 'incorrect' sequence with different sounds. It sounded really cool (to me) so I ran through the tracks on the sequencer to see what they did, then hit record on the DAT and did 'the take'.
The heroes of this track really are the Mono/Poly and the Lexicon Vortex. And the R-70 drum machine. The Lexicon Vortex is the budget effects processor Lexicon made for a short period of time. It has cheap parts, the knobs crackle, is noisy as hell, and is challenging to program. That all said, it has a really unique sound, and does some amazing things with phasing and stereo imaging. Ask anyone who has a Vortex, they'll tell you of it's magical mystical properties.
