Flying reptile or not, he nailed it
Meet “Taryll Dactal,” a man who looks like he’s more likely to cause a problem than solve one, the moral being that oldie-but-goodie: Don’t Judge a Book by its Cover.
It was Sunday evening, just hours from when the John Deere folks were coming to haul my dysfunctional lawn tractor to their shop for 3-4 weeks (see the blog I posted on Saturday).
A solid friend of mine, who was aware of my tractor problems, called to suggest that I check out a YouTube video that seemed to address my problem: no spark (in the tractor, that is).
I had been tinkering with the tractor for four days and had already replaced many of the electrical parts. I saw surrender as my only option.
Thanks to the encouragement of my buddy and a YouTube video posted by Mr. Dactal (I assume that’s not his real name, nor his real teeth), I decided to take one last stab at it.
On Monday morning I waved off the John Deere service people and located the part I needed (the electronic control module) at a John Deere dealer in Charlotte (Michigan, that is).
I installed it and ... BOOM! Lift off! By Monday afternoon I was back in the saddle.
