Went to my first truck and tractor pull last night! I've lived within 12 miles of this house for 20 years (lumping the two years I was actually in Colorado into that), and I've never watched a tractor pull until now. I've watched my brother do a few pedal pulls, but that's not the same. I also didn't know until this event that people pull with pickups and semi cabs. Until they got their own tractor this summer, my parents were never into that kind of stuff even though they both grew up on farms. Little Man seemed to have a lot of fun. He's a little bit obsessed with tractors, so he liked seeing them (although I think he might have liked the sled they pulled more, lol). I think it's safe to say our family is now hooked.
Today, we're to a different county fair because for some reason the county we live in now, and the one we lived in for the majority of my childhood are the same weekend even though they're neighboring counties. My mom has a library program at the fair, so that's the main reason we're going.
In a few years, I'm excited to get Little Man into 4H and start showing things. My thought is that he'll do rabbits because he can easily care for them almost entirely by himself, but obviously, he'll have the choice of pigs and chickens (and maybe goats) as well. I'm thinking I might submit some baking or sewing open class.
