This is Lutukan Sao, a traditional Bania /businee community member. He specialises in selling all kind of goods used in Pooja-Path. He also sells many medicinal herbs, the traditional Ayurvedic medicines much of it raw plant and tree parts. He sees good business in the older part of Patna I also live in. His shop is near Paschim-Darwaza, Patna City. I frequent his shop once in a while but keep observing while cycling past his shop many times. He is always chewing pan/masala which is his style so to speak. A dense moustached man his knowledge has cured many and hence he is very popular around the area he does his trade. Indian Wedding Season is on here at Patna. Folks if you don't know Patna/Bihar, you should attend a traditional marriage ceremony here. For the sociology student in me few things else can tell how about us Biharis more than a marriage. The crave for food, the show off nature, the flaunting of wares, the inebriated state of mind even if not on anything to feel them on a high, the respect for tradition, the absolute sense of enjoyment for days, the occasional fights....I can go on and on. But marriage season in Patna/Bihar is the backbone of its economy for months. In our older part of Patna, we still get curd from earthen pots as has been the practice since centuries in northern India. Don't know if that makes the taste better or not but the #TraditionalMe loves it. Since #SummersAreHere #Lassi shops dotting the city especially have rows upon rows of earthen pots having pristine white curd to attract the customers.
