When will the prompts for Sheith Month 2019 be decided and/or announced?

Hi!! Hopefully prompts will be finalized by mid-April.

However this year I think I will be releasing the prompts in a different way than usual:  I’m thinking I will release them one week at a time throughout the either May or June.

Feel free to submit ideas for prompts or ideas for theme via ask/dm.

Also, if anyone is interested I need a new event artist to use for the announcements and blog background, so if anyone has ideas they can dm or send an ask/submission, (e.g last year was v-0-3 and the year before was @lordzuuko)

Half of the price upfront, half right before I send you the finished version (you will get wips before that).

I can refuse a commission without giving a reason. But I can tell you if it makes me uncomfortable or if I don’t think I’ll be able to draw something and we can agree on something else.

Heyo, I'm totally with you on thinking that "you're my brother" was added so the scene won't be so romantically coded. Do you think that if had they decided to go with the romantic no bro approach, the story afterwards would have been different? Because if we look at it as a confession, shouldn't their interactions change in the following season? Do you think that was changed too or do you think this was not the case?

Oooh this is a really interesting question!

My overall answer is “no” because we know from interviews that SYeun recorded most of the fight in ADR; as in after animation had been completed. By that point they’d be so far ahead in production on s7/8 that it would be impossible to adjust story elements. I also think that if execs had allowed just “I love you”, it doesn’t mean they would have endorsed romantic scenes between the two.

That said, 7x01 is extremely romantically charged. Like, bonkers romantically charged. “You can’t do this to me again” might be the most intimate thing Keith has ever said to Shiro next to I love you because it’s so vulnerable and selfish in the way we are when we’re in a relationship with someone. 

And yet, after that, s7 feels like it kinda gives them some space suddenly. The only interaction they have between 7x01 and 7x12 is “I’m glad you’re here”. I actually did wonder if scenes between them, and honestly between other characters, were cut in favor of more action as there was definitely a significant dearth of character in the latter half of the season. I don’t know if that would have been affected by a lack of “you’re my brother” or not though because platonic or romantic, Shiro and Keith’s relationship is still the most important on the show. And besides, like many have pointed out, if they were to enter a relationship together I’m not sure much about their interaction would change outside of closed doors.

Hey, stupid question, is Shiro... mean/evil in Gridlocked? I just have a vague feeling I read smth about it and I'm low key scared to read it just for that reason

tldr; no he is not evil, i would die for gridlocked shiro and as of the last several chapters half the comments are readers agreeing he is making them feel too much (mood) & deserves only good things.....which is true....

That being said, Gridlocked is a post-apocalyptic cyberpunk world so all/most of the characters have gray morality to varying degrees. The world ended a decade ago and they are all deeply traumatized, in various ways, because of that. Shiro’s trauma, as well as specific things he endured (which are spoilers), changed who he was as a person in order to survive. He’s done questionable things and especially through Keith’s POV in the first few chapters, he is an antagonistic force in the story. But Gridlocked is also about traumatized people healing with each other, focused on Shiro and Keith.

Shiro is not the antagonist by any means; there are MUCH worse people/forces than him lmao. He’s actually meant to be a lawful good force, though in the end I think chaotic neutral fits him AND Keith better. Keith & Shiro’s dynamic in Gridlocked is both complicated and one of my favorite dynamics I’ve ever written. It’s called Gridlocked because they’re evenly matched forces in their own ways, and eventually come to realize this.

I’d say it roughly follows the Enemies to Friends to Lovers trope (after chapter 1 it is a slow burn, there is no non-con whatsoever), but even in the beginning when Shiro is “bad,” he’s acting on the orders of a more evil force and does not fully understand what he’s doing for them. I really wanted to write a story where Shiro and Keith did not have each other while growing up AND something terrible that would change people on fundamental levels, like the world ending, happened. I wanted to know how they could meet and fall in love and save each other under pretty much the worst of circumstances. So that’s Gridlocked!

Regarding the "I love you", it's not only probably the first time Keith has said it to Shiro, it's probably also the first time Shiro has heard it from anyone since Adam broke up with him ;;;

OOOH, I’ve been seeing a lot of posts about that actually!! That definitely kills me more than anything and honestly.. Do you think Shiro definitely missed hearing that? Like, we know that up until the end, their relationship was pretty good and that they worked together well, so Adam’s “I Love You’s” definitely meant a lot to Shiro, obviously. But after that falling out and the entire situation with Voltron and the Galra, I wonder if Shiro ever just wished, for a single moment, that he could hear it again. Despite being the leader, Shiro needed comfort, too, and Adam was a big source of that in his past.

So the moment when Keith tells him that he loves them, something he may have been wanting to hear again for so long now has to be... just so calming and emotional for him, especially when we consider, again, that Keith isn’t always so open about what he’s feeling. 

I just love how much there is to unpack with that scene, gOD, I could write an entire novel about it ;;;
