                    nobody   interferes,   knowing   their   little   sparring   session   isn't   over   yet.   having   him   in   a   chokehold,   there's   smugness   to   the   fate's   tone   as   she   speaks,   convinced   the   older   went   easy   on   her.

                    ❝   don't   you   know   that   you   can   punch   me?   don't   you   know   that   you   can   bring   me   down?   ❞   she   whispers   into   his   ear,   trying   to   push   him   past   his   limits.

 you   know   what's   the   worst?   if   we   replaced   haku   with   zabuza,   the   relatinship   between   him   and   mica   would   be   so   similar.   micaela   is   so   easily   manipulated   &   influenced,   and   if   she   sought   a   strong   ally,   zabuza   probably   could've   made   her   his   weapon.   luckily   though,   before   they   got   to   meet,   she   already   knew   his   alias,   and   let's   be   real,   demons   =   bad,   so   nothing   aforementioned   will   ever   happen.   or   could   have   happened,   as   zabuza   held   his   title   around   mica's   birth   or   so.

 nonetheless,   i   think   she   would   be   flattered   &   flustered   if   he   ever   gave   her   a   compliment   :   if   he's   not   involved   with   *actual*   demons,   they   could   have   civil   conversations   or   something   like   that.   anyone   who's   old,   strong   and   grumpy   and   decides   to   say   anything   nice   to   mika   makes   her   fold   in   half   ksdjht   sdg   fghb

                    golden   eyes   remain   open,   tears   prickle   in   the   corners   ;   does   this   gesture   mean   as   much   for   kabuto   as   it   means   to   her?

                    &   he's   smiling,   and   his   smile   is   oh   so   charming,   as   always,   and   his   eyes   look   at   her   with   such   intensity   she   wishes   she   could   hide   away   from   them,   from   him,   but   then   —   isn't   sure   if   she   really   wants   to   do   that.   because   if   so,   she   wouldn't   get   to   be   around   him   anymore.   or   rather,   he   wouldn't   acknowledge   her   existence.

                    and   she   wants   to   be.   desperately,   almost   ;   solitude   of   her   lone   travels   already   gnawed   at   her   bones,   teeth   marks   everywhere   a   reminder   of   counting   on   yourself   and   yourself   only   ;   a   reminder   of   being   your   only   company.

                    before   kabuto   puts   her   glasses   away   and   leaves,   mica   grabs   his   hand   (   she's   fast   ;   so,   so,   so   fast   -   faster   than   sasuke,   faster   than   lee   ).   immediately,   she   averts   her   gaze   —   everything's   so   blurry   she   wouldn't   be   able   to   discern   his   features,   but   she   still   doesn't   want   to   imagine   what   his   expression   says.

                    ❝   please   stay?   ❞

                    something's   mumbled,   barely   a   whisper,   &   micaela   hopes   it   was   enough   for   the   medic   to   hear   —   there's   not   enough   courage   in   her   little   heart   to   repeat   what   she   wants   louder.   someday,   maybe,   she'll   stop   stuttering   ;   she'll   say   it   with   her   whole   chest   —   maybe   even   return   his   gesture   (   his   glasses   are   still   cracked,   why   doesn't   he   fix   them?   ).   today,   however,   is   not   that   day   —   but   the   progress   she   made   is   enough.

                    no   matter   how   close   one   is   to   all   nature   &   no   matter   how   badly   xayah   would   love   to   be   in   peace   with   druids,   sometimes   it's   just   impossible   —   like   right   now,   by   halsin's   side.   contrary   to   itachi,   the   bird   -   beast   spends   quite   a   lot   of   time   in   the   camp   alongside   sasuke,   unmei   and   other   tav's   companions.   if   one   of   them   took   her   somewhat   friendly   demeanor   for   flirting,   that's   on   him.

                    because   as   much   as   xayah   would   love   to   agree   with   halsin's   views,   they're   too   diffenent   from   her   own   ;   though   it   was   delightful   to   spend   time   with   someone   valuing   nature   nearly   as   much   as   she   does.

                    perhaps   it's   there   when   she   made   a   mistake   (   she   would   never   admit   it   was   her   fault   ),   letting   the   oakfather's   follower   linger   by   her   side,   tell   his   tales   of   leadership   and   struggles,   pour   his   heart   out   for   her   to   hold   so   it   doesn't   spill.   for   her,   it   was   nothing   but   friendly   ;   for   him,   it   was   more   than   that.

                    she's   no   liar   :   it   would   be   untrue   to   say   that   a   thought   of   sharing   her   days   and   beds   with   halsin   never   crossed   her   mind   ;   the   man   -   bear   would   let   xayah   tear   &   devour   his   heart   if   she   only   so   desired.   point   is,   she   doesn't   want   that.

                    ❝   you're   being   dramatic,   ❞   vastaya   states   with   a   roll   of   her   eyes.   itachi   would   already   feel   it   :   annoyance,   though   for   any   onlookers   it's   barely   nonchalance.   ❝   we're   allies   fighting   the   same   battles,   about   to   charge   into   the   same   war,   but   that's   about   it.   ❞

                    xayah   ruffles   her   feathers,   considering   what   to   say   next.

                    ❝   i   have   a   mate,   ❞   she   muses,   unsure   if   itachi   would   approve   of   the   term   ;   for   now,   she   haven't   found   anything   more   fitting   in   the   common   tongue,   the   word   partners   not   describing   the   animalistic   attachement   she   has   for   the   older   uchiha.   ❝   and   just   because   we   believe   in   the   same   case   doesn't   mean   we   have   to   belong   to   one   another,   halsin.   ❞
