❝so... i heard rumors your podcast was gonna cover, like... a cult?❞ are you a good liar? debatable. that technically wasn’t a lie, you did hear that, but you have ties to the cult and you’re not sure how well you’re hiding it. not officially a member, not as far as you’re aware, but close enough all the same. you’re hoping your bad lying comes across more like a vague fear or paranoia. ❝you don’t really think there’s a cult in barren falls, do you?❞

    “  so, what? you do this for a living?  “ so does she, but you won’t see her bringing that up. it was different circumstances. zatanna was a superhero --- and besides, she pretty much grew up on the magic and later on, the supernatural. it was harder to fathom that someone would just choose to do this, willingly. demons were not for the faint hearted.

a childlike giggle escapes you, no signs at all that you take her seriously. sure, if she looked deep into your eyes she might find the look of worry, the fear that you’ve been caught out somehow. caught out with what? you’re not lying, you basically haven’t even said anything. sure, there’s plenty of things she doesn’t know. plenty of things no one knows. and maybe, just maybe, they’d be things that caused deep concern. but no one knows them, so no one’s concerned. it’s that way on purpose, hiding traumas deep beneath the surface so that no one can see the real you, a facade of childlike behavior and complete stupidity that makes you seem ten years younger than you are. but, oh, how much easier it is to just make people laugh at the things you say, how much better it is when no one worries. ❝worried? don’t be worried! worried spelled backwards is deirrow and that makes no sense, just like being worried makes no sense!❞
