“Breakfast with my father because he needs hisreports, too…” She chuckled and reached up toplace a kiss on his lips, “… and then the queeninvited me to lunch. What did you do?”
"Thank you. Just try, that's all I ask. And perhaps you could tell her that? If you want me to stop coddling her, help her out yourself."
Evangeline rolled her eyes, “I just said I’d do it! Stopor I’ll just take it back.” She frowned slightly, “How didI even end up on a playdate with Titanos?! At least,you admit you’re coddling her.”
"Only with you." He rolls his eyes, "I know, I know. But I will be happy if you at least try. You don't even have to be friends with her, just make her feel a little more welcome than you have been."
She hummed in approval pleased with his answer. “Fine…I’ll try.” She agreed reluctantly. For him. “That would beasking too much of me. But it would help if she didn’t looklike she absolutely hates everything and everyone around her.”
"I fail to see that happening any time soon. You at least could be a little nicer to her, she's going to be apart of the family someday."
“So damn clever! “ She chuckled. “Do you plan on winningall arguments like this? With everyone?” Signing, she restedher forehead on his chest before looking up at him again.“I’m not good with girl friends. You know that. I’ll try?“
"Right, right, I am sorry." He pulls her close capturing her lips with his, "Alright you're not jealous. But is it so wrong of me to make my brothers betrothed feel welcome? You certainly aren't helping in the matter."
She wouldn’t have let that go so easily if it weren’t for hislips but her mind went blank. “One day that will stop workingand you’ll be in big trouble.” She warned him with a chuckle,both hands resting on his chest. She rolled her eyes slightly,”Because court is anything BUT welcoming? I’m actuallypreparing her for the rest of her life better than you are.”
"I fail to see how the knowledge of dresses is required to run a country." He chuckles, "You're jealous, aren't you. Look Evan, we're not coddling her, we are helping her adjust to court life."
“You know what I mean.” She rolled her eyes upat him and poking his chest lightly with her fingerto emphasise each word, “I am NOT jealous.That’s ridiculous.” She half-lied with a scoff, “She’s taking lessons for that.“
He wraps and arm around her waist, "I'm stressed okay? And the last thing I want to hear about is court gossip-- besides, I could care less about Mareena."
“It’s not meaningless court gossip. You could run half the country using the right ones.” Evangeline raisedan eyebrow, tilting her head on one side, “Really?Is that why you coddle her like she’s a child? You andMaven, but at least is her betrothed.”
He huffs in annoyance, "Don't be like that Evan."
“Don’t be like what?“ She askedin a sing-song voice unable totone down the sarcasm. "It’s thetruth. Which part bothered youthe most?”
