Trail Thoughts 🌿
Just reached a little bench on today’s hike, so I figured I’d sit down for a minute and write.
Do you ever feel like you’re in a movie?
Lately I’ve caught myself thinking that more and more. Sometimes it honestly feels like I’m in a Disney film. Birds landing on my hand, deer quietly wandering nearby, squirrels running across the trail like they’re late for somthing, and rabbits and hares suddenly coming hopping or sprinting toward me on the trail. They’ll stop a few feet away, stare at me for a couple of seconds like they’re trying to figure out what type of animal i am… and then bolt off into the forest. I swear there are moments where I feel like Snow White… just with hiking boots instead of a dress.
It doesn’t stop there, either. I’ve got a couple of birds that regularly show up at my bathroom window while I’m sitting on the royal porcelain throne. They’ll peck at the glass because they want food, and if I forget to feed them, they’ll wake me up early like little alarm clocks. They’re getting a little too comfortable.
Then there are completely different moments that feel cinematic too.
Walking through an airport alone.. Sitting by the gate watching strangers come and go. Looking out the airplane window as the runway disappears beneath the clouds. Walking through an unfamiliar city with headphones on, and suddenly the soundtrack in your ears matches the mood perfectly. Even driving down a quiet road at sunset can feel like the closing scene of a film.
Maybe it’s because I’ve watched too many movies.
Or maybe movies just borrow those little moments from real life.. the ones we usually rush past without noticing.
Either way, every now and then life seems to hit the perfect camera angle, the lighting is just right, and for a few seconds… it really does feel like you’re the main character. 🌿🐇🎬
