A llama (and a kangaroo, a monkey, some goats, several dogs, and a couple of cats) got a bath and then attended a party at 331 West 18th St., 1959. The party was given by adwoman Lorrain D’Essen, who realized there was a market for trained animals to be used in commercials.

Challenge #04484-L100: C'mon, You Know You Wanna
Humans teach some of their Galactic friends how to ride various ride-able animals. -- Anon Guest
Two bovines, three equines of varying sizes, a collection of ungulates, and a gently-swaying elephant. After that, the species available were diverse, bizarre, and generally accepted to be as dangerous as every imaginable hell. The Humans looking after the animals probably explained it all.
The saying went, If it's too big to fit in their house, the Humans will try to ride it.
This was not a petting zoo. The signage declared it a riding zoo. Though, of course, petting was always an option. There were Humans running the place, after all, and the universe according to them was full of creatures that loved being petted. Each animal had a saddle and a handler, and a neat little information plaque displaying how easy each beast was to ride. With grades in mounting and dismounting the seat.
