Beryl has a lot of Pokemon, and she loves them all very much. She only has six at a time ready for battles and stuff, but she usually has the other four “benched” mons on her person in case of an emergency or, more frequently, just to hang out. Here’s a little info on her squad as a whole:
Peridot (Meganium, M, Lv 64) - A strange Pokemon of unknown origin. Incredibly intelligent and fully capable of human speech, though he only does this around Beryl either to keep a low profile or just to screw with her. Possibly evil, but is entertained by his trainer’s antics so he still listens to her.
Ruby (Scolipede, F, Lv 63)
Beryl’s first Pokemon, and a direct result of her bad habits. Slow and dopey, likes to rummage through trash for snacks. Very affectionate with Beryl, and the only Bug-type Pokemon that she’s comfortable with.
Media (Gardevoir, F, Lv 62)
A gift from Beryl’s parents for when she went off to Lumiose. Cheerful and bright disposition. She’s very aware of Beryl’s physical and emotional health, and acts like the team nurse. Can communicate with humans telepathically, and she uses this skill to scold Beryl when she does stupid and/or dangerous things.
Toffee (Lopunny, M, Lv 63)
Beryl’s first catch in Lumiose City and the mascot Pokemon for her social media accounts. Being both shiny and very small, he was originally a shy and meek Pokemon before he met his trainer. Highly inspired by his trainer’s confidence on camera, he emulates her and has become the most popular member of her team online. In real life, he’s still very shy.
Amelie (Delphox, F, Lv 64)
An over-excited and very aggressive member of Beryl’s team and her most eager fighter. Always puts 110% of her enthusiasm in almost anything they do, usually with some form of consequence because of it. Likes exploding her enemies with fireballs. Desperately wants to Mega Evolve.
Poshanka (Greninja, M, Lv 63)
A disciplined Pokemon that sought Beryl out after hearing of her incredible success in the ZA Royale. He was hoping to find a masterful trainer who could unlock his potential. Has since come to realize Beryl is a far cry from being a master of any sort, but unfortunately now he’s emotionally attached to her and the rest of the squad so he can’t really leave.
Deedee (Dedenne, F, Lv 60)
A sassy little mouse Pokemon with a severe sweet tooth. She tried to steal Beryl’s croissant and ended up getting caught because of it. The two got into squabbles early on, but have formed a begrudging friendship after butting heads for so long. Definitely has a Napoleon complex, and gets very annoyed when people insist she can’t do something.
Yukiko (Froslass, F, Lv 61)
A rogue mega Pokemon Beryl was able to quell. Afterwards, she sought out the young trainer to continue traveling with her. Calm and elegant, with an almost regal air to her that stands out amongst the rest of Beryl’s chaotic team. She does have a mischievous side, and likes to pull pranks. The best part? Nobody ever suspects her.
Queen (Aggron, F, Lv 62)
A very large Pokemon that just… showed up one day. No one knows where she came from or why she’s here. Moves as if trapped in perpetual slow motion, yet can seemingly teleport or act very fast whenever no one is watching. She’s unaware of her own girth, making her a health hazard to everyone.
Shimmer (Chandelure, F, Lv 61)
A nervous wreck of a Pokemon that Beryl met late at night. Fearful of most other Pokemon, especially other Ghost types. (This also includes Beryl’s Rotom phone.) When frightened, she hides behind her trainer, which usually means Beryl gets a face full of whatever attack frightened Shimmer in the first place. Incredibly powerful in combat… if she doesn’t freeze up.

Pip (Rotom Phone, M, Lv 30)
Beryl’s poor, overworked Rotom phone. Needs a vacation.
ZA may have invaded my brain and won’t leave. Here’s my player character this time around!
Some notes about Beryl:
- Awful with money. Just absolutely terrible with money. The kind of person that impulse buys way too often and regrets it like three days later.
- Likes to do dances on the Pokemon world equivalent of TikTok. She’s naturally very clumsy, so she does a lot of takes.
- Her first Pokemon is actually a Venipede! She didn’t do a very good job cleaning up her room in the past, so much so that a wild Pokemon snuck int to dig through her trash. She caught it accidentally with a pokeball she impulse bought a month prior.
- Currently staying at Hotel Z because AZ doesn’t ask for rent, something she’s forever grateful for.
- Actually has a lot of inherent talent for Pokemon battles, but never thought to give it a try mostly out of lack of interest.
- The Chikorita she got from Urbaine can talk like Meowth does in the anime, but he only does it with her. This is partially because he likes her and partially to screw with her and make her look crazy to other people.
- Always trips, never lands gracefully. This is made worse by her habit of looking at her phone while walking, even on the rooftops. Her Rotom phone desperately needs a break.
Since I’m still playing, I’ve yet to decide on a final team, but I may do a group picture once I finish it…
