As you can see from the temple in the final picture, the building was eventually decorated with magnified stone recreations of desiccated animals found in owl pellets. The cult believed in silently watching their prey and then swooping in to take them out.

I enjoy the creative swings that “Worst Case Scenario” (S03E25, Stardate 50953.4) takes in revisiting some of the early tensions of Voyager, pitting Maquis against Starfleet. It is a new turn on the "Holodeck gone wrong" trope, but there are some leaps to be made. All in all it is a nice piece of fiction.

I imagine once Voyager eventually makes contact with the Alpha Quadrant and they share all of their holonovels the cover art for Worst Case Scenario would look something like this...
