Tran Cafe, 3032 Wilshire Blvd Suite B3, Santa Monica, CA 90403
Tran Café recently opened in a small food hall. The café serves Vietnamese coffee, made with coffee from Vietnam, milk tea, matcha, Japanese bento boxes, Nerikiri desserts, and banh mi sandwiches. The banh mi is made to order and customizable. They put an Americanized spin on the banh mi by adding mustard and Thousand Island dressing (but both are optional).
Golden egg cream coffee: didn’t seem like the usual egg coffee, the cream wasn’t thick. The coffee was strong though. It tasted fine but didn’t seem like egg coffee
Classic combination banh mi ($6.99): The roll was very soft (usually the exterior has some crunch). I didn’t mind the softness since it tasted fresh. The sandwich lacked some components, e.g., the carrots did not taste pickled. There was no daikon or jalapeno. There was very little pate. The meat (3 kinds of cold cuts) was fine. The sandwich didn’t have much but was very affordable.
Order at the counter. Someone will bring you your food and drink when it’s ready. I think they might have a rewards program.
