Actually, since Benny’s parents aren’t really in the CANON musical, that would be a good reason why Benny’s in the heights. He got kicked out when he came out to his parents so he was on his own maybe and landed a job and a home in the heights (so for this, that means Benny wasn’t there as a child) So for this, since Usnavi’s his best bud, we’ll say he came out to Usnavi and maybe Sonny too and of course they were cool with it. I feel like Sonny would know a bit more about it compared to Usnavi but not much. And maybe with the Rosario’s, Benny’s transition was VERY successful so he passed as cisgender in the family’s eyes until they found out one by one. Oh man, imagine if that was another one of the reasons Benny got fired on top of the whole selling the business for Nina thing. Ouch. Nina doesn’t mind and oh god…what if Kevin ends up getting kinda mad at Nina too because she’s in love with Benny regardless of gender and when Kevin finds out that Benny is transgender…oh dear that could get messy. I like to think that Kevin would MAYBE give Nina a chance to speak since he loves her so much so maybe Nina could educate her dad on feelings and how love is love dammit! And plus, I think Benny would be VERY happy when the Rosario’s finally accept him, cause the last family he had kicked him out, hence why he was so happy that Kevin considered him family when he hired him (I just made that whole dinner scene more heartbreaking for ya) so Benny’s so glad he finally has a family who accepts him for who he is, despite the VERY rocky start

I got some good news! My therapist said that I got approved for this program that helps transgender youths get gender affirming clothes, and I may even be able to get a binder soon! We’re gonna talk about it more next week, and I’m SO excited!! I never thought I’d get to this point, especially when I first started figuring myself out, but now I’m one step closer to matching how I feel inside to the outside.

I’m literally so happy, y’all don’t even know.
