Thank you to everyone who gave me suggestions on Ace's weapon form...! I got a lot of messages about him being a multi-form weapon, and I 100% agree. Pretty early on in this AU's lifetime, though, Coral gave me the idea of a weapon that can temporarily take on other weapons' forms, and I LOVE that. Perfect for Ace's personality and his Signature. I also really love the idea of him having a default form that he finds uncool--he strikes me as the type to yoink a sword or a spear's form and pretend that that's what he is when he and Deuce first start working together. Meanwhile, Deuce thinks there is nothing cooler than being able to protect the people you care about.
Ace and Deuce's clashes have a funny streak of bringing out the best in each other in increasingly absurd and adorable ways, and that's just as true here. As an inverse to Ace's struggle with his weapon form, Deuce worries pretty constantly about accidentally hurting or breaking a weapon he's partnered with. Demon Weapons don't necessarily break, but he doesn't know that -- he broke a wooden practice sword like once and the idea of doing that to a person has haunted him for years. It's like the eggs thing. Ace has to set him right, but he won't do it without laughing at him first.
Here's the whole Heartslabyul lineup. I'm a little irrationally happy at seeing them all together. The cards... Together at last...

WOW thank you for the warm reception on the Treycay! This AU has been consuming my brain. I planned on doing Ace and Deuce's designs next, but up until like... Yesterday? I hadn't settled on a weapon form I liked for Ace. Shoutout to Silk for once again bestowing me with the best and funniest idea possible. (pictured)

In that downtime, I've been tooling with Riddle and Floyd. Their designs came to me pretty easily: I knew I wanted to give Riddle huge boots and the Maka-inspired long coat, and the rest followed suit. Riddle ended up very Kingdom Hearts-y, which I am delighted by.
Alongside that, me and some friends have been talking worldbuilding! One of the really easy and VERY interesting decisions we came to was having black blood/madness be this AU's equivalent of overblot. They achieve the same thing--a crazy evil berserker state--so I'm gonna use the terms interchangeably. Of course, the exact emotions in each are a little different. This has had...

I'm still working out the exact timeline -- there is a VERY evil part of me that wants to hold off on Trey and Riddle splitting up as weapon and meister until AFTER Riddle has already had his brush with overblot. That would mean that Trey would be the weapon in Riddle's hands when he tries to kill Ace, Deuce, and Cater, which... Is as evil as it is interesting. Decisions, decisions.
In significantly lighter news, regardless of when Riddle gets heckled into accepting Floyd as his new weapon, he gets to deal with frequent phone calls from Azul Ashengrotto as she oh-so-diplomatically tries to guilt trip him into giving her fucking gun back. (pictured)

The promised Soul Eater AU!! This was just an idea in my head for a while until Silk reached out and pitched me some KILLER concepts. Here's the gist;
Trey and Cater are a weapon/weapon pair. Despite being a weapon himself, Cater usually takes on the role of meister, and is on a losing streak of his weapon partners leaving him for other meisters. Trey, on the other hand, was Riddle's weapon partner, but they split around final exams during Riddle's first year because they were never able to resonate. Trey is EXCEEDINGLY normal about this! The AU so far focuses on these two, the freshly-weaponless meister Riddle (and the eel that keeps poking him with a stick), and incoming first year weapon and meister Ace and Deuce.
I have some ideas for the non-Heartslabyul dorms as well, but I'm still cooking for most of them! I have the clearest pictures for Heartslabyul and Diasomnia at the moment. I welcome ideas. And clothing refs. Please god. Here's a ton of words of me agonizing over character fashion.

This is my attempt to find a niche that I don't know exists. Yes, I know TWST x Pokemon is a thing thanks to Grim, but...well, it's been a while since I've made a legit Submas AU post, and I've recently gotten OBSESSED with the role swap of Emmet getting isekai'd and Ingo going through the grieving process, and the new TWST anime ignited something in me soooooo, let's go!
So, in short, it's exactly how it sounds. Emmet gets smacked by the Dark Carriage one night and ends up waking up in a coffin at Night Raven College.
Major differences, though, he has his memories, at least of his home, not how he got there, AND he has his Pokémon. I mean, it's only fair. At least when Ingo got yeeted he was able to rebuild a new team. Emmet's only option is Grim, and that's just a full-on disadvantage. He needs at least Eelectross to keep it balanced.
Also, if you want bonus angst, you can say this happens not too long after Ingo gets back home from Hisui, or it happens RIGHT as Ingo gets back like a messed-up switcharoo, AND/OR Emmet pushes Ingo out of the way of the carriage. Many flavors to choose from! ANYWAY! On to the fun part 83

Now the best part...I know TWST x Pokemon is a decent chunk of the fandom, usually with trainer OCs and the usual, along with the classic mistaking Grim as a Pokemon bit, we're keeping that...but imagine.
Emmet loves battling, specifically...and upon seeing a new "Pokémon" that has moxie and can fight?? Oh, Grim is gonna be in the TRENCHES XD
Grim: (setting fire to the hall and being a menace)
Emmet: Safety check! (throws a Pokeball)
Grim: (gets a Pokeball to the face) OW! What was that for?!
Emmet: Hm, I might have to weaken it first (sends out Eelectross)

Riddle would probably still take Grim's head, but no matter what happens, Grim HAS to make his way back to our "Yuu" somehow...and Emmet, I'm sure, is the LAST choice of "Yuu" Grim would want to be stuck with XD

I like to think that after a bit of bickering and adjusting, Grim would realize that having Emmet tell him what to do is actually...effective. Like, he can fight REALLY well when he listens to Emmet, and his weird eel friend is actually kinda nice once you get to know him.
Emmet meanwhile, taking a page from my own TWST OC Kirsty, would likely be hired as School Security for Night Raven College, as well as the resident Beast Tamer/Familiar Expert, if that's a thing, and basically Grim's guardian while he takes classes (even though Emmet doesn't understand why a Pokemon needs to take classes involving books when regular Pokemon training should be plenty, but one thing at a time) He's also doing his VERY best to try and find a way home, pestering Crowley CONSTANTLY for anything that can help him get back to his twin.
The NRC students are...VERY weirded out by this new staff member, but they don't wanna say anything and risk getting stared at with that creepy smile or worse, jumped by his weird familiars that somehow fit in these red and white spheres.
Meanwhile, on the other end, we got our not-at-all-happy Ingo. Especially since, unlike PLA, we can't blame this on a Pokémon like Giratina or even Hoopa, this was an OTHERWORLDLY thing
People go through the security footage a million times. Emmet is there, a carriage led by strange Pokémon (animals) charges him, the camera fizzes out, the feed comes back, and he's gone. No clues, no trail, no nothing.
But like hell that's gonna stop Ingo from bringing his baby brother back. He will jump headlong into a mirror if it means getting to Emmet.
I don't know if he would somehow find a way to get to Emmet or if Emmet will find a way back himself. Honestly, I might wait until Book 8 to get an answer, but it WILL end happily, mark my words. Maybe Mickey can help, maybe we can involve Mega Evolution energy somehow, idk I haven't gotten to play Legends ZA yet- also yes, Emmet can have Megalution while in TWST too, let him flex the cool evolution thing he has
BUT ANYWAY, that's everything so far, hope you like it and also can understand what I'm talking about, for any TWST and Pokemon fans out there X3
Been thinking non-stop about this AU,, I wish I could do more than just simple doodles but university and working on getting a driver's license is taking ALL my time (╥﹏╥)

Ok so! I have a few thoughts related to the doodles :]c Just gonna put them all in list form here
Emmet's Eelektross becomes extremely clingy to Ingo. Emmet and Ingo share and swap their Pokemon a lot so I think they're very close with each other's teams. Eelektross will cry like a sad wet puppy if he's left alone for too long. He spent almost an entire month clinging to Ingo after Emmet disappeared.
Chandelure has become very protective of Ingo after Emmet's disappearance. She could sense something powerful had been there when she found Ingo knocked out in the subway tunnel. Something beyond normal Pokemon.
Continuing off that point, I think the literal tearing open of space time left a lasting effect on the area. Ghost and psychic types are especially affected and do their best to avoid the tunnel. Which also put another roadblock in the way of finding out what happened there in the first place, seeing as Ingo doesn't remember.
Any attempt made by psychic types to assist Ingo with remembering or trying to peer into his memories generally doesn't end well. Both for Ingo and for the Pokemon involved.
I like to think Ingo is a very chatty person. He enjoys talking at length about all sorts of things. Usually, he'd do that with Emmet. But seeing as Emmet isn't here, and not as many people enjoy his rambling in the same way Emmet does, Ingo starts talking to himself a lot instead.
Ingo has started taking care of all Emmet's joltiks
Now for Emmet, I think he and Sneasler would get along really well. I like to think Sneasler is very mischievous and Emmet definitely has a similar energy. She definitely encourages some chaos, but can also go a bit "mom mode" and stop him when he goes overboard. (Aka scruff him like a kitten lol)
Emmet WILL rant to Sneasler about the other wardens, clan politics or whatever. He thinks arguing constantly is a waste of time and generally tunes out or just straight up leaves if warden/clan meetings devolve into arguments.
Emmet and Melli cannot stand each other. Melli removed the torches from Wayward cave ONCE and Emmet has held a grudge since. He goes out of his way to mess with Melli whenever he can.

Basically, Date Everything AU, but the MC is a child.
The house is home to a family of three. The parents are busy and often absent, meaning MC is alone almost every day. They are very lonely
But one day, when MC is home alone, they receive a package, told to give it to their parents. But being a nosy little kid, they decide to open it themselves. They get the Dateviators and suddenly they have 102 siblings and new parents to play with and they would all do ANYTHING for them
Betty gives cuddles and keeps the bad dreams away if the parents are gone for an all-nighter (bonus points if MC's child bed is either a small version of Betty or a new Bed OC)
Chance, Connie, and Parker teach them how to play ALL the games
Stella, Celia, Wallace, and Florence all make sure MC doesn't hurt themselves and are always there if they accidentally smack into one of them when chasing Timmy around
Mitchell and Freddy are always there to provide snacks if they get hungry and Stefan, Luke, and Friar are always ready to cook meals
Keyes and Rainey always play their favorite songs and dance with them
Washford and Drysdale giving literally the BEST Uppies with safe tossing and tumbling in the laundry room
MC and Johnny having (very loud) karaoke and regular singing sessions together
And so SO many more ways to play with literally every inanimate
And of course, MC, despite being a kid, ends up fixing ALL the relationships in the house

Fell back into your teen Divus art (as you do cause I love it so so much) and now I'm wondering...what do you think Trein was like during that era? Like was he exactly the same except without back problems or was he a bit different back in the day?
Trein was as uptight but caring as he is now. Maybe a bit more severe. He sure had less wrinkles.
He was Crewel's homeroom teacher, and he hated it with a passion. Crewel has been a pain in his butt since day 1 and nothing ever worked on this little shit. That plus the other teachers also beefing with Crewel, his hair turned gray very fast.
Not that Crewel was the only problem at the time, but he sure was well on his way to be NRC's worst student ever.
Though, luckily for Crewel, he is very cat coded so Trein still worked hard to get somewhere with him. It didn't work, but he tried.
Summary: Yuu was already fed up before coming to Playful Land and now that it's over... She has some very choice words for she has reached her boiling point...

“Here you go, Yuu-chan.”
Yuu mindlessly stared at the cup of tea that was placed in front of her before turning her gaze up towards the RSA students. She knew Neige and the others with him had introduced themselves once she had calmed down. The one on the opposite side of Neige with long red hair and shining blue eyes called himself Rielle, the one sitting across from Rielle with blond hair enthusiastically introduced himself as Andrew Lovington and had told Yuu to call him Andy. Finally, was the tall boy with the green top hat, who leaned against the stone pillar of the tea shop they were next to. He announced himself as Hatley McGee with a tip of his hat and an accent to boot.
“Are you okay or do you still need time?” Rielle asked with concern in his voice.
Yuu rubbed her eyes. “I’m fine, I’m fine.” She took a sip of the tea and paused as she tasted a lavender blend with hints of honey in it.
“If you don’t mind me asking, what caused this?”
While Yuu wasn’t a big fan of Neige, the calming presence of Rielle helped her to speak.So, she proceeded to talk about what had happened in the past twenty four hours and watched as the faces on the students shifted from confused to concerned and then to angry.
“You’re magicless and they still put you in harm's way!?” Andy shouted. “How dare they!”
“Andy, lower your voice.” Hatley calmly reminded him. “You’re in public.”
Andy slouched in his chair as Neige blinked in surprise.
“Vil-san did that...?” He looked down at the table. “He’d just... put you in danger like that?”
“They all did.” Rielle glanced at Yuu’s arms. “And have been for some time.”
Yuu pushed her sleeves down to hide the overblot scars and took another sip of the tea.
“So what do you plan on doing now?”
“I’m not going back, there’s nothing for me back there.” Yuu leaned on her arm and glanced off to the side where she could see NRC towering over everything else. “No home and outside of Crewel and Trein, no one who truly understands what I go through.” She ran her fingers through her hair. “I saved their asses and they still treat me like I’m the lowest thing on the totem pole. Let someone else dig them out of the hole they dug themselves in.”
“Regrettably, if you stay here in town, they’ll be able to find you.” Hatley spoke up as all eyes directed at him. “Would you like to come to RSA with us? If only to lay low?”
Yuu was quiet, glancing from her phone to the RSA students and then to NRC. “....Sure.”
She finished the rest of her tea as Rielle got up to pull her chair out. Yuu paused for a few moments before thanking him as he also helped her up. They began their walk to RSA and while the boys talked amongst themselves, Yuu sent a text to Crewel and Trein explaining where she was going. After that, she went into the chat labeled for the NRC students and promptly left the group and every one adjacent to it. She went into the first year chat and paused as Sebek, Deuce, and Epel started ridiculing Ace, Ortho, and Jack for what they did. It seemed news of Yuu’s departure had finally hit the other ears of NRC.
Before she left, Epel had informed the rest of them that Yuu had left the group chats and just as she saw the text bubbles pop up, she left that chat as well. By now, they had reached the gates of RSA and Yuu paused before stepping through them. She stood out greatly with the black attire versus the white, almost princely, attire of the RSA students.
“We need to tell Ambrose.” Hatley spoke. “He could find a way to send you back home as well.”
“Crowley said that was impossible.” Yuu crossed her arms as they made their way into the main part of the school.
While NRC was: craggy, isolated on a carved cliff top, towering over the island as well, and generally uninviting... RSA was the exact opposite to it in every way. Shining white with the royal blue for parts of their school structure and the wall that separated them from the ocean. The greenery and landscaping weren’t selective or nearly barren looking, instead it worked in tandem with everything else around it. As they passed, Yuu could see students lounging on the lawn as they ate their lunches and chatted with one another. She looked down at her jacket and shrugged it off, tucking it under her arm and out of sight of the other students.
They continued into the school, passing other students along the way, some that had Yuu doing a double take. Sitting on the railing were a pair of students with a tiger beastman next to them, the colors mirroring the Scarbia one. She didn’t have time to think about it long as Neige started dragging her towards the headmaster's office. Hatley knocked on the door and they waited until they heard his voice telling them to come in.
“Headmage Ambrose!” Andy shouted as they walked in, pushing Yuu front and center in front of the old man. “We need help.”
The man looked up from his papers and blinked as he saw the young lady. “You... We’ve met before, correct?”
“Yeah, during VDC...”
“Yes and you were in NRC at the time. What have my students talked you into?” The way he shook his head with a smile and a warm voice almost made Yuu break down again.
“Well, sir.” Rielle spoke. “We’re hoping she'll be able to stay here for the time being. NRC has caused her a great deal of pain and distress.”
“Pain and distress?” He got up from his chair and made his way over to Yuu. “What happened?”
Yuu could feel the sincerity coming off of him and felt she wouldn’t be brushed off if she confided her problems to him. So, she told him everything that had been happening to her since being thrown into this world and forced to stay in NRC. As she finished, silence filled the room and no one moved until Ambrose placed a hand on her shoulder.
“You are more than welcome to stay with us for as long as you need. I’ll see if I can’t find a way to return you home, young lady. Until then, welcome to RSA. We’ll try and have a uniform for you as soon as we can. For now, I’ll call in the other dorm leaders and try to find a place for you to stay.”
Tears welled up in Yuu’s eyes as she hugged him. “Thank you, you have no idea how much I wanted to hear that from someone.”
GO OFF YUU!! We deserve to crash out more than ANYONE ELSE HERE!! ESPECIALLY after Playful Land, fucking HELL, HOW did they expect us to just DANCE THAT OFF???
My only note is that Kalim deserves just as much of a singling out as Ace does, cause I love my sunshine child, but BOY did he PISS ME THE FUCK OFF during this event and his bullshit redemption mindset soured the WHOLE thing and resulted in a human trafficker going free. LIke Yuu said, it was PURE DAMN LUCK they escaped that fiasco and the boys deserve ALL the scorn for dragging us into this.
I say again. GO OFF Yuu. Same with you, Trein and Crewel. This is why you're the favorite teachers; defend your child
So I've been obsessing over your Teen!Crewel posts (my friend and I love dabbling in that era too) and after reading that list of headcanons I have to wonder...since Divus rarely saw his parents do you think there anyone he lowkey saw as a parental figure? Like Trein or the butler that was mentioned? (my friend and I also diagnosed Divus with Daddy Issues due to his rebellious tendencies lmao)
Yes and no.
I'd say his relationship with his butler is somewhat equivalent to Batman and Alfred. Definitely a lot of love and something close to a father/son relationship, all the while keeping that professional distance between them. And Divus is highly independent so even before NRC he would just go days without seeing his butler because he was too busy doing stuff.
As for the teachers at school, there is definitely a thing about them being authority figures that are actually present in Divus's life and so he has no idea how to handle it properly without fighting back. His parents never tell him off. His butler never tells him off. So when his teachers disapprove of his actions, he doubles down hard. He acts like a child king because he's never ever had any opposition, and at the same time he's a neglected child who has no idea how to react when someone is proud of him.
And, you know, we talk a lot about daddy issues online, but me thinks Divus also has one hell of a mommy issue. Might even be worse than his daddy issues.
Anyway, daddy issues, mommy issues, that boy has it all.
