Noticing a horrifying phenomenon...
When I go out into the world in a dress as opposed to my usual jeans and flannel
I get gendered correctly more..
And randomly complimented by strangers...
Even men! Ive had like 2 dudes in as many days all but confess their love at first sight for me..
And like idk man the only thing I'm doing different is wearing a dress..
On the one hand I'm thrilled to be being gendered correctly more regularly
On the other I can't exactly work in the kitchen, on the cars, in the yard, ect in a dress, nor can I really be fucked to shave my damn legs everytime I wanna get ma'amed in the grocery store
Like I do nothing for my voice, I smoke anyway any voice training I do tends to slip after a day or two cause my throats rough
Most days I can't be bothered to do make up and even then about the only thing I can manage to make look good consistently is a smudgey smokey eye and a red lip and a shakey eyeliner wing
Forget about foundations and setting powders and contours and concealers a girl just don't got time for that shit
All to say..
I am by all accounts 'clocky'
But fuck you put the skirt on and people start acting right all of a sudden and idk man I just think that's bullshit.
I made it back to the water...
I did it ....
I did it ..
Since you've been active in trans communities, do you occasionally forget what cisgender society generally views as masculine and feminine in terms of appearance?
Yes, even for ""obvious"" things (facial & body hair, breasts, etc)
Yes, but only for ""less obvious"" things (hand & foot size, facial shapes)
Only once in awhile / rarely / only for one or two things
No, but it has definitely altered how I define masculinity & femininity
No, not at all
Note from poll author: The terms ""obvious"" and ""less obvious"" were used to save space. A better way to say this would be "things associated with being strictly male or strictly female (facial hair, breasts)" and "things not strictly associated with male or female, but still enforced through white supremacist gendered beauty standards (hand & foot size, facial shape)".
You know, sometimes, cis girls do not pass as trans, and we should still be nice to them and affirm their gender as women.
Trans feminity; eternal youth and infinite torment
And yet somehow you'll enjoy it
In part because you have to
Mostly because despite the harassment and abuse to detransition is to return to undeath
To turn away from it all is sacrifice the only part of you that ever lived
The only part of you that was ever capable of happiness
I’m just too pretty
