Oh man, I just realized how fucking dysphoria triggering the dark ritual is going to be for Cahel. He would totally do it... but he can't.

Because he doesn't have a penis.

Instead, he's the one who could get pregnant.

Amid the prewar jitters and everything else, he gets hit with one hell of a wave of dysphoria he can't even begin to explain. And he can't go to any of his usual people because they're kinda busy - especially Alistair, who is doing the dark ritual because he can't.

Oh, this is good.

Just got a fun idea of Sten and my Warden Cahel Mahariel getting dressed after the go naked to get the ashes trial. Cahel is incredibly uncomfortable so he's off in the corner trying to get his binder back on, but it's cold and it's not fitting as well as it used to, so he's having a hard time. He's getting frustrated.

Sten is nearby and winds up helping him with the last strap. He then makes him turn around to make sure it's sitting right. Then he looks at Cahel for a moment.

"Warden, why you have not elected to remove those is beyond me."

And Cahel's eyes light up because what. WHAT. YOU CAN DO THAT?!

And he shouts over to his fellow warden Cherche Mahariel like STEN SAYS IT'S POSSIBLE TO GET THESE OFF!!!

Then he looks back at Sten like I don't have to join the Qun for this, right? I'm kinda spoken for.

It's gonna be a fun walk back for sure. They got the ashes, and Sten is going to get a million questions about everything.

wip tuesday

The sob creeps up his spine, one vertebra at a time. It starts between his hips as he tugs Tamlen's face to his own. "I'm sorry," Saliin says, voice cracking. "I can't. I want to. I can't." When Saliin kisses Tamlen, his shoulders shake. The ghoul's hands remain at his side as Saliin tries to convey everything he never said.

They should have bonded. There would have been kids and arguments and their own aravel. Ashalle should have seen grandchildren and Merrill would be around to dote on them. Junar and Fenarel and Tamlen would teach the littles how to hunt and when Saliin had performed his duty the Keeper would work the ancient magics to grant him his manhood. There was a plan. A future.

No longer. "Ar lath ma, Tamlen," Saliin whispers, when he can finally bear to part their lips. Those blighted eyes stare back at him, simultaneously brimming with emotion but restrained by the song in their heads.

"You must," Tamlen insists, placing his fingers on Saliin's lips. "Always... Loved you." The sob climbs further up his vertebra, settling between his shoulders as Saliin stares at Tamlen. They love each other.

Why isn't that enough? Why isn't this one of Hahren's stories where it works out? Where Tamlen snaps out of it because they love each other? Why did this have to be real? Why didn't he listen when Saliin said they should go back?

Tamlen's hands sprout claws as they grip onto Saliin's jaw. The sob forces itself into his throat and tears out of his chest in a guttural screech. Tear into him, rend him limb from limb. It doesn't matter. A death at Tamlen's hands would at the very least be worthy.

Someone pulls him back. He's not sure who. All he knows is his friends are killing his Tamlen and he cannot stop them. The noises coming out of him resembled no creature known to Thedas. Screams broken into sobs and shaken as his soul heaved and roiled.

Bryce's brat was in town again. She was fully aware of each slight against my bannate. That thing's wicked grin told it all. hello i finished writing this cute fanfic of my warden and alistair and I’d love it if you checked it out! <3

here’s a snippet:

Alistair stopped at the edge of camp, the soft undulations of Lake Calenhad glittering in the light of the moon. He physically braced himself.

“What do you think of Zevran?” he blurted out. Aspen was shocked that this is what Alistair had dragged him away from camp to talk about. Zevran had retired hours ago, and he knew through sharing a tent with him on occasion that he was a heavy sleeper, for an assassin.

“I like him. We all got off on the wrong foot with him, but he’s genuine and knowledgeable about the world. I definitely think that’s useful, considering I haven’t really been out in the world much till this point.” Aspen leaned against a nearby cedar, breathing in the scent of the needly leaves. Alistair stood in front of him, his back to the water’s edge, swapping his weight between one foot and the other.

“It doesn’t bother you that he’s…” Alistair stopped, unsure of how to continue, but Aspen interrupted.

“That he’s what? A cold-blooded assassin? An Antivan? We can’t all be pasty white Fereldans, you know.” Aspen laughed, bright and free. Alistair felt a pang in his chest – despite everything they had been through, all the death and darkspawn and destruction that they had seen, he was glad that Aspen could still laugh his beautiful laugh.

“No, no, have you tasted Antivan cheese?! Adore the stuff. No, no, I meant… do you care that he… likes men?” The look of disbelief that spread across Aspen’s face at this made Alistair’s blood run cold, and he immediately regretted how he approached this conversation.
