Less than a month until the release of my Japanese translation of 17776 Ch1!! I've made a website for it that will link to the actual project on the day of the release. It also has an RSS feed, so you can receive updates using an feed reader app. Feel free to take a look!

#FUCKKKKK way too real. head in hands #one of the reasons why i dont have as many en->jp translations in my portfolio #en->jp got hands and im scared (i say as i work on a big en->jp project)#its so hard man. i gotta figure out all the possible nuances in a specific sentence and get the characterizations precise and #trans(lation)#this is also why quite a few movies and musicals kinda Suck Ass in japanese (often have crucial parts stripped for timing)#and at the same time i have immense respect for skilled en->jp translators that work closely with the og creator(s) when they can #thinking like undertale and mindhack. cant remember much of the jp translation of tihylttw but i remember some realllll good parts #for bad examples idk. i dont like the jp translation choices for hk/ss #but (gritted teeth) that may just be my interpretation of hornet clashing with the translators interpretation #and also the difficulty is pretty high for it in terms of like. renaming places and concepts. its bound to get awkward no matter how skilled #(grits teeth again) but i still dont like how femininely they made hornet speak which ik they had to carry over from hollow knight but still #anyways. sorry for the 1:30am rant

ok status updates and plans on the 17776 Japanese translation:

first rough draft of chapter 1 is done

going to work on getting the intro article drafted while i revise ch1 (so i dont get tired of doing the same chapter lol)

make Tumblr + Bluesky accounts sometime soon

still need to figure out:

how to get it online (neocities, some other service, etc)

what to do with videos (caption edits or complete remake, or smth inbetween)

if we could implement effects like the original (something is terribly wrong, chapter index on reload, etc)

also discord invites are still open! ppl with translation+technical knowledge are greatly appreciated but ofc lurkers are also welcome.

遥か遠い未来で宇宙探査機たちが少し特殊なアメリカンフットボールの試合を実況するSF作品 17776: What Football Will Look Like in the Future の和訳プロジェクトを始動しました。Discordサーバーを作りましたので、17776にちょっとでも興味のある方、既にファンの方、翻訳でなくとも技術面でご協力いただける方など気軽にご参加ください。現在は作品内にも出てくる2026年4月7日に第一章をネット公開することを目標としています。

尚、自分はフットボールにあまり詳しくないので、用語やルールなどといった語彙の面での情報提供者も探しております。作品を知らなくても、そちらでご協力いただける方がいらしたら大変助かります……🙇

Since everyone is going to stop dying next year, I thought this would be a good opportunity to start working on a Japanese translation of 17776. I've yet to find any Japanese fanbase, much less an existing translation, so any and all help is appreciated (including technical aspects). The first goal is to get the first chapter online on April 7th, 2026.

I've made a Discord for project management, so if you're interested in any way, even if you're a Japanese beginner, don't know the language but can provide technical assistance, or just want to have a look and chat with other 17776 fans, feel free to join!
