“Are you sure you’ve never done this before?” Christine asked, pressing her drawing pencil to the sketch book in her hand.
“I have never been asked to pose before,” Zain confirmed from his seat on the edge of the fountain. His long legs were crossed casually and he sat angled slightly so that the light hit him just right.
“That’s very surprising. You make an excellent model.” Her eyes flickered back and forth from the sketch to his face.
Zain smiled at the complement and glanced her way. “The same can be said for you, Ms. Christine,” he said politely, taking pleasure in the light blush that appeared on her cheeks. Even after half a year of dating, the sly butler still manages to make her blush with a simple compliment.
“Stay still,” she ordered with a slight pout, distracting from her embarrassment. Zain smiled to himself and did as he was told but he couldn’t keep his eyes from wondering over to his lovely Christine. Her eyes flickered back and forth as she worked but she did not seem to be looking at him so much as studying the shape of his face and the folds of his clothes. The blush eventually left her face, her expression turning serious. The intensity of concentration made his heart pound happily. He loved that expression. It was beautiful to see her so focused on something she loved doing. She pressed her lips together when she worked on a particularly tricky section and would then nod to herself in satisfaction after a moment.
She had stopped glancing at him, he realized. She must be working on the finer details. They have been outside for a few minutes but the chill temperature was already leaving her with a pink nose. How cute, he though. He stood and walked over to sit next to Christine on the bench. Their breathing created a puff of fog at the same time.
“It’s lovely,” Zain spoke from her right.
“It’s not quite finished,” she responded, still moving her pencil.
“It is still very cute.”
“Cute?” She turned her head and her warm eyes widened when she was met with Zain’s face. He was so close. She could see her reflection in his eyes and just the softest breath in carried his scent. It was clean but held a slight manly musk. Her face warmed.
“Very cute,” he insisted, pecking her lips.
“Oh,” she flushed afterwards. He smiled softly, pleased with himself.
“Are you cold? Your nose is pink.”
“No, I’m fine,” she said, attempting not to allow his approximation to fluster her.
“And so are the tips of your ears,” he noted, still wearing that polite smile of his. You cheater, Christine thought, her pulse quickening. Don’t look at me like that. She closed her eyes lightly, wondering if it was a mistake when she felt Zain’s warm breath on her ears. “My lovely artist, how I enjoy watching you work.” He pressed his lips to her ears, warming them up a bit. “Will you let me model for you again?”
The husky whisper did her in and she jumped back a little. “N-no!” she yelled pushing at his chest. She stared at him accusingly but it was difficult for Zain to feel insulted when she was pursing her lip and holding her ear while she made such an adorable expression. Her face was bright red.
“I’m sorry,” Zain said but a chuckle escaped.
“You are not!”
Zain smiled gently, his expression softening. He held up his hand for hers and perhaps out of habit, she placed it her hand in his. He brought her hand to his lips and lightly kissed her knuckles. “Please forgive me. I did not mean to upset you.” He bowed his head lightly, playing the role of butler. When she squeezed his hand gently he looked up and his gaze me hers.
“All right. I forgive you.” She leaned in and placed a kiss on her corner of his lips. “I’ll get my revenge later,” she added, a glint in her eye.
Zain’s eyes widened slightly before a slow smile spread across his lips. “I see. Then I will stay on alert.” The ringing of her giggling met his ears and a moment later his own laughter joined hers.
I am hoping that your characterization is to your liking :) Enjoy.
