My 66 year old Papang was diagnosed with Multiple Infarct Dementia 5 years ago. It is a type of dementia predisposed by prolonged uncontrolled high blood pressure that resulted to rupture of blood vessels in all parts of the brain which eventually would manifest just like any form of dementia. I knew from then on, there was no cure. The only choice left for us was to delay its progression.
Forced to quit his job, I watched him slowly drift from his old self into a totally diffrent individual in so short a time. He needed care 24/7. We changed 'bantays' for a couple of times because no one can keep up with his horrific moodswings and the demanding work load of a person crippled with dementia. The months of July and August were by far the most trying of all times. He was totally bedridden and completely in a vegetative state. The dread of losing him was just too much to bear.
With a grain of hope in my soul and a heart totally surrendred to Him, I always whisper a prayer to God and often claim his promise that in His mansion are rooms, and that He should have one room for my Papang. Although, in my unconcious mind I still long for a for a miracle. To simplify things, I was in tuned with reality that death is imminent but also vulnerable to whatever means thats might prolong his life.
Never did I try to enter the world of supplements. For one, I always have this notion that they are fake and would only do more harm than good. Second, they make money and rob you for every hard-earned penny that you have.
One afternoon, my former practical nursing student Arlyn Bongcasan, asked me to listen to a presentation involving some kind of supplement. She claims that the cysts on her breasts have completely vanished after taking these supplements. My intial reaction was, 'Oh! No, not this kind of stuff!' Anyway, I sat, pretended to listen while unmindfully pressing the keys of my phone. I know it was somehow rude of me to do that while this beautiful lady diligently made all efforts to explain what this supplement was all about.
Anyway, the presentation did make a lot of sense. The supplement would target the weak immune system in cases like cancer and tuberculosis or any condition brought about by some bacteria or viruses. It also regulates the immune system if it is hyperactive as in the case of most of the autoimmune diseases such as psoriasis and vitiligo. As simple as that. It goes back to the person's immune system. But for me, to believe all these claims would take some time. Besides, the lady can just concoct something just to sell her product.
So there I was, with all my volition submitted to her and ended up buying a few capsules. Good thing they allow loose selling unlike most supplements being marketed. On top of this, she told me to buy a whole kit, which to my mind again, 'oh shit, im going to be a victim again.'
To summarize things, my father started taking the supplements August 26, 2014. He has remarkably made a tremendous progress. In two weeks, all his bedsores are healed. He sits on his own. Good appetite. Holds his cup. Can understand when given simple instructions. Can move on his own. Waves at neighbors when their cars would pass by.
Yesterday, I visited him. Indeed, God touched him and certainly I would say mircales do happen. And supplements surely do wonders if it is the right one.
