Hot Football Transfer Gossip: Fabregas ‘considers Real Madrid move’, Man Utd ‘target Gabigol’
The Boss of Goss Kevin Darling says two faded Premier League midfield greats were left out of their teams’ starting line-ups this weekend, but they have reacted to it very differently.
Two faded Premier League midfield greats were left out of their teams’ starting line-ups this weekend, but they have reacted to it very differently.
Cesc Fabregas is being tipped to storm out of Chelsea in a huff after being dropped by Antonio Conte, whereas out-of-favour Manchester City legend Yaya Toure is more than happy to sit around on his bum earning £11m for the next 12 months. Different strokes for different folks.
Spanish paper Sport says Fabregas is unhappy about missing the Blues’ win against West Ham and is considering a move to Real Madrid, who would apparently like to buy him.
Yaya, however, is happy to stay at the Etihad and is not really fussed if he doesn’t play, reports the Mirror. This is likely to annoy Pep Guardiola, who the Express says doesn’t even want him there, but the Ivorian would prefer to do nothing for his £225,000-a-week wage rather than make the effort of going somewhere else and earning less money. And who can really blame him?
Despite Jose Mourinho recently saying that Manchester United would not buy any more players in this transfer window, the Sun thinks the Red Devils are going to spend £30m on Brazilian teenage striker Gabriel Barbosa. That would be bad news for Leicester, who were hoping to snare the 19-year-old for less than that.
Elsewhere, West Brom have made a £21m offer for Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani (Mail), Juventus are “plotting” to sign Tottenham contract rebel Christian Eriksen (Sun) and Chelsea are set to make a £20m move for Germany full-back Jonas Hector (Mirror).
Finally, we bring you news of a Sun “exclusive” courtesy of a man named Daniel Cutts, who reveals - EXCLUSIVELY! - that West Ham will not be signing AC Milan striker Carlos Bacca because they can’t find a buyer for Diafra Sakho.
You’d think the fact that the Sun describes Sakho as a “winger”, when he is in fact a striker, would be the biggest problem with the story. But in fact, there is an even bigger one, namely the quotes from a so-called “Hammers source”.
“With the wage cap and Sakho now not going anywhere we can only afford one or the other. The manager prefers Ayew as he can play in more positions,“ the Sun has apparently been exclusively told.
In fact, these exact quotes appeared on a West Ham fan website - and not even a reliable one - on 7 August. More than a week ago!
So not only are the “exclusive” quotes nicked from somewhere else, they are also extremely old.
The Sun and Daniel Cutts probably thought nobody would notice this, because who really pays attention to any of this nonsense anyway? Well, Hot Football Transfer Gossip does. Hot Football Transfer Gossip is actually that sad. So, to borrow a phrase from the publication’s unsavoury past, GOTCHA.
