Straight up the worst thing about the trans rights readathon is getting all my books squared away but knowing I have to wait to read them.

That being said, my public library is coming in clutch with a lot of books! I've already got 3 books and got like 4 more coming. Plus, the digital copies Im borrowing from hoopla and libby!

My aim is to read more than I did last year and get donations from people who aren't my family. Last year I read like 15, so this year I'm going for 20.

Transformation Project Concept Statement

In hindsight, the project itself was challenging as it forced me to focus on the process of experimentation itself rather than working from the start towards an end goal, which I have never done before. 

The process itself began with the idea of utilizing a tea box in the creation of tea itself- thus imbuing irony into the process. 

What I didn’t anticipate was the almost immediate destruction of the box; as I wanted the experiments to be connected I then was presented with the challenge of using materials which seemed to be useless. 

This occurred as a result of my first experiment being to, after pouring boiling water through the box, mashing it into small pieces and attempting to dissolve it in the boiling water. After waiting overnight, I then separated the leftover liquid from the box pieces, which left me with two small containers of product to experiment with. I was then suggested to use the liquid to dye materials with; so I dyed cotton fabric. 

However I was stumped as to where to progress from there, thus I decided to keep true to the concept I had been experimenting with, tea, in my final result. 

Overall I completely transformed the box and was forced to use the results of the experiments in interesting ways, including incorporating it into different materials.

Transformation Project Post 6 

Due to confusion as to where to proceed to reach some sort of conclusion to the project, I decided to focus on a teacup as a “container” for the now liquefied and solid forms of the box, experimenting with its shape and design with other objects.

I was also pleased with the results of experiment 2 as due to leaving the crumbled cardboard in the sun over several hot days, the cardboard browned similar to that of a biscuit.

Thus with the base of a teacup, I used wire, plates, plastic flowers and leaves, previously stained cloth and hot glue to initiate another major transformation to the purpose of the box itself.

Experiment 3 Results and Brainstorm

After letting the material soak in the tea box mix overnight and dry, the end result was that it stained somewhat.

I was then unsure of how to next progress and how to start to move towards a finished result, so I decided to brainstorm around the common base which I have been using throughout experimentation; tea.

As a result, I may utilize a common container for tea, a teacup, in presenting the remnants of my transformed box.

Experiment 3

Using a portion of the previously obtained tea liquid (which was strained from the box mixture) I brewed more tea in order to experiment with dyeing materials. I then put cotton scrap fabric in the tea and will wait for the fabric to be stained.

Unfortunately I am unsure what steps I will take after this process to progress towards a finished piece; I may brainstorm with the concept of tea which has been continuous throughout experimentation.
