Fun in The Kitchen

During the yearly summer vacation to Cade and Vivia’s house in Floriada, Jamie and Drift decide to do some baking. Lily assumes the two will bake her birthday cake, while Cogman dislikes the potential mess. Everyone goes to the beach, leaving Drift and Jamie alone in the house. “Well, now Lily expects a cake,” Drift’s holoform laughs. “We’ve never baked a cake before, but I think we can do it. It just won’t be as nicely frosted as Cogman’s cakes.” Along with the cake, the two also plan on baking chocolate chip cookies. Although Jamie wants to bake more cookies, she expects the others to leave the beach in a few hours and return home. The first objective is for her and Drift to complete the cake and chocolate chip cookies.

In the library, Drift finds cookbooks, even though Cogman has all the recipes in his processor. He found the book with Lily’s favorite cake recipe. “It seems like a simple chocolate cake, but it’s not,” Drift moments, reading the recipe. “We can still do it.”

Because of the kitchen’s size, they had ample space to lay out everything. They attempt to make the baking fun without adding to the mess they’ll make. After ten minutes, they had two cake pans ready for the oven. Drift laughs at the scene he’s looking at after putting the pans in the oven. He watches Jamie clean out what remains of the cake batter. “Really?” He laughs. “What?” Jamie smiles. Drift laughs at the mess of chocolate batter on Jamie’s face. “Oh, nothing. Can I kiss you?” “Uh…” Drift still kisses Jamie’s cheek, cleaning off a spot of chocolate batter. “If baking more often means kissing you, then let’s bake more often,” Drift teases, hugging Jamie. “I think that bowl is as clean as you’ll get it. Let’s clean up this mess.”

Once Drift and Jamie clean the kitchen after making the cake, they move on to making cookies. This doesn’t take long. They prepare the cookie sheets and wait for the cakes to be done. The two clean up the kitchen. The counter holds a bowl of cookie dough and two prepared baking sheets. With the cakes almost done, Drift and Jamie wait in the kitchen. Drift looks at the mixing bowl of cookie dough awaiting being put on cookie sheets and gets an idea. Jamie sits on a stool at the island, looking at her phone. “Open your mouth.” “What are you-?” Drift pus cookie dough in her mouth. “That’s all you’re getting,” he smiles. “I know you like to sneak cookie dough. Probably five cookies worth.” “I do not!” “I’ve watched you make cookies several times. Yes, you do. Crosshairs will agree with me.” Jamie says nothing. Drift laughs at how quickly Jamie gave up arguing.

Happy To Be With You

Sideswipe watches his brother, Sunstreaker, plan a date with a smile on his faceplate. He still can’t fathom his brother’s relationship with a human.”What?” Sunstreaker asks. “I never thought I’d see you in a relationship and with a human.” ”Shut up!" Sideswipe laughs. The red Autobot watches as the yellow bot transforms, activates his holoform, and drives out of the hangar into the city. Sunstreaker drives to Lily’s house, cursing at the stupid human drivers he deals with, hoping not to be pissed by the time he reaches Lily’s house.

Forty annoying minutes later, the yellow Lamborghini pulls into the driveway. Lily runs out the door before Sunstreaker’s holoform gets out of the car. “You’re still this excited?” He asks, smiling. “Yes,” the redhead says. “It’s not like we see each other every three months or longer.” “Let’s just go.” Lily gets into the car.

After dinner at their favorite place, Sunstreaker takes Lily to the camping spot where the two often go together or with friends. They sit on the beach and watch the stars. Lily sits on Sunstreaker’s lap. “This is going to sound weird,” Sunstreaker says. “What isn’t weird about our relationship?” “Fair point, but what’s weird is how I’m happy we met. Even if I was the last Autobot that your brother wanted you to befriend. It’s weird I’m in a relationship, and with a human, but I like it.” “Well, technically I’m a hybrid-.” “Really? Going to argue?” Sunstreaker pokes Lily’s side. “This all still feels weird, even having friends, but I like it. I suppose I am happy I was forced to come to Earth so many years ago. Even if this wretched war was the reason. He puts a finger on Lily’s chin, having her look at him so he can kiss her. He smiles, and together they spend more time looking at the stars.
