Characters I’d Like in the Game

Are there any characters you’d like to see in this game? I know a few I’d like. You may be wondering where this came from; it’s the Energon Invitational this weekend. The overall winner gets to design a card for the game. Not sure if this is a character card (I think it is, but I’m not 100% sure) or a battle card. If it’s a character card… just imagine who might be added to the game! So… here is my list of characters that I would like in this game.

Knock Out (either as an Autobot or Decepticon). He would be fun! Possibly with some sort of healing ability (so he can team with Ratchet) although; as he said, he is better at breakin’ ‘em than fixin’ ‘em. He would give us another Decepticon car (possibly) to put into decks and tinker with. My favourite character is already in game (Decepticon King Starscream; that one made me so happy when he got revealed!) so my second favourite needs to be in the game too. Speaking of favourites…

Steeljaw. Not Blaster’s Cassette, the other one! The wolf one from RiD2015. Yeah… he won’t be put in the game… He’s not been in any form of G1 (Knock Out has been in the comics); since this game only seems to include G1 characters (and Demolisher, but he was an unusual exception). Since I’m on about the comics…

The Decepticon Justice Division. I highly doubt they’d be put into this game (try explaining them to a kid!) since… well, what they do. If they were added; I’d like them as a 25 star team; so you could run all five of them (or perhaps as a 30 star team with a skill on Tarn like Blaster’s or Soundwave’s; +1 star to your starting team for each D.J.D. on your starting team). Another comic character (and another fan-favourite) that I’d like to see is…

Sky-Byte, that’s him! Not like they haven’t got an alt mode type for him (Beast, Apeface gave us that!) and perhaps he could do something with Actions (like he’s saying a haiku, or something). He’d also then make a good teamie for Wave 1 Thundercracker. Also, like the D.J.D., he has appeared on a battle card (Rest and Relaxation); so could show up in future (Lockdown did, and I wasn’t expecting him!) Since I’m listing comic characters… why not?

Pharma. I’d LOVE to team him with Ratchet and another healer. His skills could be… His flip to alt could be the same as Wave 1 Arcee’s (Repair 1 damage from each of your characters) and his bot mode skill could be triggered when he does a certain amount of damage (let’s say 4) to an enemy to repair 1 damage from himself.

Now on to the point to this article… I’m not going to the Energon Invitational (didn’t get a ticket, couldn’t afford to get to the U.S.A. even if I did) so I’m going to imagine what the character card I’d design would look like IF (very big if) I won…

Yes, of course it is Steeljaw; he wouldn’t get into this game any other way… His stats are right for a 7 star character, or don’t seem over the top (like say 8 base attack). 8 attack, where did I get that from…? Oh, if he has 4 teamies on the battlefield when he attacks in bot mode… he’ll have 8 attack (if he has no other attack boosts). Not bad (like that lovely Battlefield Legend, a card I hope doesn’t dominate; the top tier deck should change, not be the same as Wave 1’s!) You’ll note this will get less powerful as the game wears on and his teamies get KO’d… but that’s fine. When he flips to alt, he does 1 damage to the enemy for each of his teamies that has been KO’d! Kinda like the skills on Tailwind, Blackjack, Seawatch, Sunrunner and Powertrain; it gets better the more of his teamies bite the dust! Only, unlike them; Steeljaw doesn’t care who his teamies are! He would just like there to be lots of them; so they can take the hits for him and increase his power with his flip to alt skill!

Lost Bots 31: Predaking, Ferocious Hunter

Note: When I deck build; I don’t look at any online deck lists. Any similarities to other listed decks are completely coincidental. That said; if someone else has built the same deck beforehand, I will credit them by saying that this deck matches _’s deck.

In these articles I’m going to build a deck for a Transformer who seems interesting; but you don’t ever seem to see. Today’s is Predaking, Ferocious Hunter.

A character who seems to want an orange deck, doesn’t he? I mean, he has 5 Weapon slots with the potential of getting stupid amounts of Bold that not even Kickback can match (try 2 Flamethrowers and 3 Power Swords since he is Melee, with a Supercharge on him). The problem there is actually getting (and keeping) all of those Weapons on him. Especially with Sabotaged Armaments (both Predaking and Megatron, Living Weapon must have gone off to cry in the corner when that Secret Action got revealed!) floating about in every blue deck. He does, however have one thing going for him; unlike Volcanicus, he could actually helm a blue deck quite well. On to the deck!

What with Headstrong being Brave at the start (with an impressive 3 defense to boot) you can let Predaking helm a deck where blue is the primary colour. With lots of Weapons that grant him Pierce; so he can do guaranteed damage when he swings at an enemy. He’s also practically screaming, ‘Gimme that Crude Club!’ With 5 Weapon slots he can easily benefit from 1 or 2 of these. Predaking also benefits from being given Body Armor (as do his components, with Divebomb being the only 1 who can’t equip it). Feel free to try the deck out!

Lost Bots 69: Windblade, Combiner Hunter

Note: When I deck build; I don’t look at any online deck lists. Any similarities to other listed decks are completely coincidental. That said; if someone else has built the same deck beforehand, I will credit them by saying that this deck matches _’s deck.

In these articles I’m going to build a deck for a Transformer who seems interesting; but you don’t ever seem to see. Today’s is Windblade, Combiner Hunter.

Who also got a stratagem in Wave 5; hence the second look. Which, honestly… I’m not sure she deserves. That stratagem… isn’t all that helpful. If only her stratagem had given her a helpful ability (like Pierce 2 to all of your bots when she attacks in bot mode; with that becoming Pierce 4 when attacking a combiner). On to the deck for her!

He takes the damage off her when she attacks and then flings it at the enemy when he attacks. He can also fling 1 damage at all of the X enemies; if he has X damage on him when he flips to alt; just once. Windblade’s flip to alt will trigger plenty of times when she does flip to alt; since only Concealing Contrails and Energy Transfer won’t trigger it. Will this deck win tournaments? No. Could Windsweeper? Possibly; if he has a better partner! Feel free to try the deck out!

Turnabout Deckbuilding 10: General Optimus Prime, Galactic Commander

In this article series I’m going to build some (hopefully) different decks with characters that can be (or have been) found in the meta. Today’s is General Optimus Prime, Galactic Commander. And you have to give him two teamies to be good, right?

His bot mode ability got me thinking… when he was revealed, someone remarked how he and Turbo Board would work really well together! So I decided, why not? Time to turn our thinking about!

Click the deck name to view the deck at fortressmximus.io. These two work together as well as you’d think. Turbo Board gets KO’d first; and then slides into one of Optimus’ 3 Utility slots. The other two can be filled by Energy Packs, Brass Knuckles, Matrix of Leaderships or even Mounted Missiles! Plus, he can Upgrade himself when he attacks with any Upgrade he flips in most battles, and Turbo Board can play one of the Actions you flip (or another Upgrade) making him more potent than even Battlefield Legend at his peak! Feel free to try the deck out!

In these articles I’m going to build a deck for a Transformer who seems interesting; but you don’t ever seem to see. Today’s is Clobber.

Who… appears to be Grimlock’s head. Grimlock didn’t get a body in this set though… how strange. Anyway, he has Bold 3 while he is in bot mode; and gives it to the bot he is the head of while in head mode. Which then begs the question; who is he going to be the head of? On to the deck for him!

Click the deck name to view the deck at fortressmaximus.io. I picked Topspin as the body; since when Clobber is on him… he has both Bold 3 and Tough 3! Now that’s nice! And with Clobber’s stratagem… Topspin is a Dinobot and can be healed by his teamie; Sludge (who requires no introduction). Topspin doesn’t flip; he just sits in alt mode and (hopefully) absorbs all damage. Sludge keeps him healthy by flipping back and forth. And Topspin makes use of that Bold by using all of the Black pips to inflict guaranteed damage. Feel free to try the deck out!

Lost Bots 67: Blitzwing, Relentless Foe

In these articles I’m going to build a deck for a Transformer who seems interesting; but you don’t ever seem to see. Today’s is Blitzwing, Relentless Foe. Huh, haven’t I done him before? With Titan Masters Attack, he received a stratagem. One which means he deserves a second look.

This gives him both the Plane and the Tank traits whichever alt mode he is in. Doesn’t seem like much, does it? Then a certain card from Wave 3 sprung to mind; one that he can trigger both abilities of (like Novastar does with Team-Up Tactics). On to the deck for him!

Which if Blitzwing is the target does 2 damage to an enemy and makes the opponent scrap 2 cards from their hand! Not bad. This deck if full of nasty little effect damage tricks (some of which not even Motormaster or Captain Ironhide can dodge). I’d quite like to play Magnetic Dysfunction Ray one turn (hitting each enemy Autobot for 2 damage) then using Bombing Run the next turn to move all of that damage to an enemy (that they can’t stop; since who uses Bumpers?). Blitzwing can sit in Tank mode if you’d like to keep his teamies alive, or Plane mode if you’d prefer them to get KO’d since he can trigger whichever alt he is in! Feel free to try the deck out!

Turnabout Deckbuilding 9: Horri-Bull, Ground Trooper

In this article series I’m going to build some (hopefully) different decks with characters that can be (or have been) found in the meta. Today’s is Horri-Bull, Ground Trooper. Who has to be in an aggro build, right?

He’d work quite well with a defensive build too. He’s very good; you just need to give him a head to boost his health (and there are 3, depending on how may stars you have floating!). Whenever you play a black card while he is in body mode; he does 1 damage to himself and 1 damage to an enemy. Then you flip him to alt and he flings 1 damage from himself at an enemy. Which is pretty mean! It even gets around Motormaster and Captain Ironhide! Time to turn our thinking about!

So those RR Disruptor Blades are going to stay on whoever equips them! It’s a scary thought giving any of them an Enhanced Power Cell (minimum of 15 Health and that’s on Nova Storm!). Roll Out! is evil in here if all of them are in bot mode. You’ll be flinging 3 damage at the enemy the majority of the time (possibly 4 if you hit Concealing Contrails with Thundercracker’s flip to alt). Feel free to try the deck out!
