My headcanon is that young Drift was treated like a pidgeon by Ratchet, always getting some treats. After some time, he got too bold and started DEMANDING them
Also, it's be extremly funny for the Dead End Drift to not be aware of personal space and learning it hard way as Deadlock in the Decepticon ranks.....
