Today we gave away the last of my male clothing, suits, ties, dress clothes, button ups, sweaters, everything. At the end of it both myself and my spouse just collapsed in tears. When people think of someone transitioning they thing it is all out of choice, and all out fo fun and excitement.
They never know the times we break down, where we realize our old self is essentially dead, and a spouse is grieving. No one understands that this purging isn’t just for fun, but something essential to heal and move on.
And as we deal with these changes we know something better is coming, but it is also tremendously hard to say good bye to all of the memories made.
That was a rough afternoon.
