Would Chara or Frisk or Azreal have any trauma induced by gardens/flowers? College AU or not, your choice

Oh! I mean absolutely all of them have trauma which is a big part of their characterization and one of the things that makes this the most comforting and self-indulgent AU possible. It’s just a bunch of kids in a found family trying to overcome their trauma together.

Asriel definitely has trauma based around… y’know, having been a flower. And of course, what he did as Flowey. Also the fact that he watched Chara poison themselves with the golden flowers, like… yea I think it’s pretty safe so say he’s got a weird relationship with them. It is strange though, because his dad is still keeping a garden full of the things, and they’re a key ingredient in Asgore’s favorite tea. He also notices that Chara themselves doesn’t have as strong a reaction to them as he does, which confuses him a bit, and so he doesn’t like to show his reactions out of fear he’s alone in the experience. That said, the Dreemurr parents know pretty well by this point that their kids need extra care, so they’re very careful around Asriel not to trigger any Flowey-based existential panic in him. Particularly since he’s the more functional of the older Dreemurr siblings, and the one who usually takes some responsibility for Chara, who is still a mess. As a result, Asriel has not returned to the garden since returning to his old self, and he’d probably be okay if he never had to again.

Chara on the other hand… this kid has a lot going on, and it took a LOT of therapy to even make them functional enough to go to college and be somewhat on their own. Years of self-hatred culminating in a very bad plan and a suicide that ended up destroying the lives of your loved ones will do that to a person. The strange difference there is that Chara has been so engulfed in their trauma that seeing the flowers doesn’t trigger a panic attack so much as it reignites their self-hatred, as a memory of what they did in the underground. The Dreemurr family take a LOT of precautions around Chara to help them function, and so long as they do, they’re actually making pretty solid progress. Anyone who gets to know them will testify that, although socially clumsy and a bit standoffish, Chara is very likable and quite kind. They’re willing to help people out without asking for thanks often, and all they do in return is make a few sarcastic jabs. Chara also maintains a sense of humor and charm- as seen in the dialogue in undertale- and isn’t just a total stick in the mud. This is a pretty big tangent but the point is, Chara is at this weird stage where any memory of the incident is painful, yet they’ve lived with it so long that they’ve become pretty numb. There’s also this weird conflict for them bc, after all, those flowers WERE their favorite thing from the surface as a child. That, and they still really like golden flower tea.

For Frisk? It’s weird. Frisk is a little too caring for their own good and recognizes the trauma Chara and Asriel have surrounding the incident is very personal. Now, suffice it to say- being killed countless times by a giant flower demon is a pretty traumatic event, and Frisk is absolutely scarred from it. On top of that, it sometimes hits them that Asriel used to be Flowey, and that recollection hits like a truck and forces them to remind themselves that the Asriel they know now is good and trustworthy and not heartless. Frisk, however, recognizes the pain Asriel feels and refuses to ever mention this to him, or to Asgore or Toriel. As a result, they sometimes bottle up these feelings and only release them in therapy. With some pushing, there’s definitely the possibility for developments where Frisk would probably feel comfortable sharing this information with Chara, since y’know, they shared a soul at the time and experienced it together, so they can probably relate.

his hat He owns a lot of pre-owned and handmade clothes so I’m sure there’s something in his beige wardrobe that’s just a little too colorful and also has stripes. Odds are he still owns it but has it in the very back of his dresser drawer for the day where it is the only thing he has left to wear.

How Dehydrated is your OC right now? Are they going to fix this?

Good desert boy 7/10 hydrated. He’s got a large water canteen with him at all times to remind him to always drink water. It’s also good for the amount of extensive walking he does!
