Aromas of bourbon, rye, barrel, chocolate, coffee, leather, tobacco, and maple syrup swirl together on the nose...It smells so fantastic that honestly, I wouldn't mind a candle with this scent. The sip is sweet and boozy, with a pronounced bourbon and rye booziness that is only later joined by flavors of dark chocolate, coffee, and maple syrup. There's a detectable oakiness throughout, and a veritable deluge of earthy, musky, notes that ride in on the bourbon and rye and continue into the warming finish. If I'm telling the truth, I always feel like I'm in such a strange position. Here I am, drinking an absolutely incredible beer, and I have to figure out a way to express how good it is, without sounding repetitive or boring by just saying "it's good". In a perfect world, I could just say "this tastes like you did a whiskey flight after a pancake breakfast," but as accurate as that is, I'm not quite sure it's as articulate as I'd like to be. This 13.5% is hitting quick though, so maybe that's gonna be all you get. If you like bourbon and rye whiskey...as in, you taste these things for fun (and you live in Michigan), then you're absolutely going to want to try this. I mean, everyone else will like this too, but you'd probably have something cooler to say about it 😂.
