!drawn to life:
For as long as could be remembered it’d been like a permanent haze had blanketed an already unreliable mind. It made for distinguishing reality rather difficult at times, earliest memories consisting only of the time spent that late summer and nothing more. Not necessarily harrowing was it as it did not hinder the way in which days were lived, but the blurred figures and nostalgia that often permitted when consciousness slumbered would temporarily instill bemusement before those lingering feelings faded once more. It was certainly disorienting being subjected to what couldn't possibly be understood, such being the case presently.
Between two digits was skin pinched, an action learned through observation to rouse consciousness, yet still the figure perched upon the bench insisted on remaining. Plastered upon a normally impassive countenance was the faintest trace of a frown, gaze unmoving from the source of this confusion. Almost like looking into a mirror was it, a distorted reflection that simply could not be that of his own as appearance obviously differed immensely. Nonetheless, this bore resemblance to that pane of glass despite how such seemed utterly impratical. Perhaps the mirror was blanketed by layers of dirt that prevented recognition of what was viewed, legs bringing his pale form steadily closer with the intent to clean away the filth that prevented clarity.
Steps halting just aside the one situated upon the wooden seat, the question consuming thought processes was finally voiced. "Have we met before? It just .. just feels like we have." Voice lacking surety, it simply couldn’t be helped as the closer proximity hadn't made things any clearer. An innate sense of familiarity had made it impossible to just let this pass, form lowering to sit beside the unsettling boy as legs pulled up to cross atop each other. No sooner did body turn to face that of the stranger, expression relatively unchanged aside from the expectant eyes that awaited an answer.
