Hi! 1, 9, 12, and 29 from the At Home Asks please!
1. your favourite playlist (made by yourself or someone else)
Favorite playlist that I ever made was the salt water thing. The one I linked to is technically a modified ever changing one on spotify, because I tend to listen to this playlist whenever I’m writing about the ocean, but the original I felt was the perfect version of itself. I did however also make a GIANT writing/reading playlist that is largely video game soundtracks and movie scores and I have been listening to that thing constantly.
Favorite playlist made by someone else is Havoc by Saucery. It’s an incredibly long playlist that gets into the mindset of a modern day genderqueer Loki and I absolutely adore it. When 8tracks collapsed it was one of the first playlists I imported over to spotify. I know I lost a lot of the songs in the conversion, because I think the original playlist was seven hours, but I still listen to it regularly. Though, I mean, also? Basically any of the mixes I imported to spotify from 8tracks were amazing.
9. a quote that you would consider getting tattooed or putting in a frame
in order to bloom:
wilt fall root rise
It’s a modified version of one of Rupi Kaur’s poems in The Sun and Her Flowers (and also the tag I use for anything plant related on my tumblr). The full version is this:
“this is the recipe of life said my mother as she held me in her arms as i wept think of those flowers you plant in the garden each year they will teach you that people too must wilt fall root rise in order to bloom”
The original is prettier, but too long for where I want it. Though I might just use the last half of the original instead of modifying it? I’m undecided. The message has always resonated with me, more than any other quote I’ve ever loved. I’m incorporating it into a floral design curling up the inside of my wrist and twisting around my elbow. It is going to hurt like a bitch.
12. if you could make a candle that smelt like anything, what would you pick?
Petrichor. Baked bread. My grandma’s kitchen before school. The first time you’ve ever been to the library. That perfect smell of ozone and brine that comes right before a storm at sea. Mostly, I want to bottle experiences and put that essence into a candle. A lot of candle companies have been trying to do this, but in my experience, they’re never just right.
29. a favourite easy recipe: 5 ingredients or less, or takes less than 30 min to make
So, a couple months ago I tried one of @notbecauseofvictories recipes - namely pickle bread. And it was so so so good. The first couple bites I was more intrigued than in love, but man it grows on you. I’m on a pretty strict low-carb diet right now, which hurts because bread is my one true joy. This recipe was pretty simple and turned out really delicious, and it is going to be the first thing I make when I’m off this diet.
