Traduciendo fanfics a Español/Translating fics into Spanish

He descubierto que solo existen catorce fanfics en español de Supercorp en AO3. Aunque no se cuantos fans hay que hablan español, he decidido traducir mis fanfics al español. Si algunos de ustedes creen que es una buena idea, por favor diganme. Como quiera lo voy hacer, pero sería bueno saber que es beneficio a alguien. 

Mi español es mexicano y no es el mejor, pero voy a intentar mi mejor para hacer esto.

So I checked AO3 for supercorp fics in Spanish because I was curious and I don’t read as much in my native language as I probably should. And I found a whopping number of eight fanfictions tagged “supercorp” and fourteen tagged “Kara Danvers/Lena Luthor.” 

My first thought was, why? I don’t know much about the spanish-speaking supercorp fans or how large they are. But I feel like doing something about it anyway. So I decided I’m going to translate my SC fics into Spanish. I don’t have that many, but as I continue to write them and update ongoing ones, I’ll also be popping out a Spanish version. 

If any of you are Spanish-speakers and think this is good, let me know. I’m still going to do it, but it would be nice to see if it’s actually going to benefit someone.

My Spanish isn’t the best and it’s Mexican Spanish, but I will try my hardest to make it work.

Oh, about your fanfiction. I would like you to give permission to publish on a large Russian-language website, I think it makes sense. I just want more people to know about this job🙏🏼. If you are worried, then I can send you a link to my profile and my friend, we have already translated several foreign works.

I’m not really comfortable having translations posted on any other platform but ao3 atm

But I have been asked this question before about the Russian language website so I’ll have to do my own research first before I can make that decision

Guys, I'm once again thinking too much, please help me. When I created my AO3 account, I didn't plan to translate my stories and so I just went on and posted the German versions of some of my fics. Now that I do translate them though, I'm hesitant to post new German works because I've gained a bunch of user subscriptions, and the majority most likely come from English readers whom I don't want to annoy with notifications about German stories - especially when it comes to long stories that will have regular updates for quite some time. At the same time, I'd love to share my not-yet translated works as well because ... well, I got some German readers too and I'm thirsting for reactions. XD

tl;dr: If you subscribe to an author on AO3 and they also post stories in a language that you don't understand, would you be annoyed by the notifications?

Yes, I'm not here for the stuff I cannot read anyway.

Not immediately but when it gets too much I'd unsubscribe.

No, I do know how to delete an e-mail, d'uh!

I don't read fanfiction and just want to see the results.

Hi I was wondering if you had any advice for writers that have approached to have their fic translated into another language. I took a quick look thru the Guide but I'm on wifi for a while so I was hoping you knew/could find the link for me if it exists! Thanks for being awesome.

Ooo I do not have anything in the Guide about that that I recall... I'm glad you are finding it useful otherwise, though, and I would love to add something on that.

Come to think of it, in my four years publishing my fic, I don't think I have ever been approached about it. I think if I were, though, I would ask the person to translate it, send it to me, and then I would post the translated version on my own Ao3 and Tumblr with grateful credit to them for their hard work. Anyone is welcome to translate my fics, but I only want them posted under my own name, just so I know what is being read and so authorship is clear (for better or worse, haha!). I would tell them they are welcome to translate it just for their own personal use, but if they want to share it, it needs to be done through the official way. Keeping things through my Ao3 and Tumblr helps readers too, because I write more of what type of stuff is popular, so then you all get more of what you like! Win-win!
