i'm transmasc and i love wearing makeup!

for me it's a form of empowerment and it can help with my dysphoria. i'm like mildly famous on pinterest ┐⁠(⁠ ⁠˘⁠_⁠˘⁠)⁠┌ and i see people save my pins in "men makeup" & "androgynous" boards all the time, among cis men (lol). it's v cool

anyway!! little inspo for y'all in case anyone wants to see what colourful masc makeup can look like.

Hi, my friend! My contour is different for every character I do, but I made a tutorial for my Ron contour, which you can find here. It's very long though (I think it's worth it personally) but here is a short little summary of the most important stuff (with gifs).

Your goal is to make your face look bigger and more square.

You want to keep your forehead contour on your temples, and pull it down and out, because you want your forehead to look big.

In terms of cheek contour, start high under your cheekbone and drag it all the way down to your chin, and shade in the space under that. Make the shading under the initial contour a little lighter. 

When doing nose contour, drag it down the sides of your nose, making sure not to get too far up the bridge. The goal is to make your nose look bigger. 

The goal with your jaw is to make it squarer, so apply the contour in an L shape. For me, this means placing the contour on my jaw instead of just underneath.

Then with your neck, take it in a v shape, from your chin to your collarbone, and then do a little u for an Adam’s apple. 

Those are the basics. I do also extend my eyebrow tails a little and make them slightly bigger, make my lips look smaller (via concealing my cupid’s bow and the bottom of my lower lip), and contour in between my lip and chin, but I don’t know how those things would read in real life, so experiment.

This makeup is intended to be used with gif quality, so it’s heavy, keep that in mind. For character reasons, I change my eye shape, do much more extreme nose contour, and generally the contour is a lot darker than I would do if I wanted to wear it out, so be aware of that. Those things really wouldn’t be needed in daily wear.  

Don’t forget blush! It makes your contour look a lot more natural. Highlight will also make it look more natural, but go lighter than you might in fem makeup. Setting spray will melt the contour into your face and make it look more natural too.  

I hope this was helpful! Keep in mind that learning how to contour takes a lot of practice, don’t stop trying! Find out what works for your face. Just remember, in masc makeup, you’re almost always go to go bigger and squarer, whereas in fem makeup you’re almost always going for smaller and softer :)
