Let’s Talk.
To all those people who don’t think I’m correct in saying that those who do not put an effort to pass or be masculine/feminine(whichever is your true identity), I must say this- if you are in a situation where trying to pass can cause suspicion, if you are in a household that does not support you and will not let you “cut your hair” or “dress that way” then that is ENTIRELY different than what these trans-trenders are doing. I know what it’s like to not be safe in an environment, thats not the people I’m talking about- I’m talking about the people who push boundaries, make it everyone's business and proudly pronounce how trans they are without a care in the world and everyone too afraid to tell them “uhm...no” because of the fear of being “offensive”. I personally don’t care who I offend if their actions are affecting millions of lives and misleading thousands of confused trans kids.

Finally came out to a few of my co-workers that I knew I could trust.
It was frightening and liberating at the same time.
While I am not in a place where I can make what I am public knowledge, en mass, having at least one place with a few people I can trust where I can be myself is a god-send. Even life-saving.
I truly believe that.
Not having even a single person, that knows me as "me" and not just as an anonymous person online, to talk to was killing me inside.
A few responded that they were surprised they hadn't figured it out before. Some of my mannerisms that didn't quite make sense to them suddenly fit. Ones that I was not aware of as visible as they are. Or perhaps they are only as visible there because I feel more comfortable there, surrounded by all women co-workers.
I'm sure my beard made it a little less likely. I publicly have to ""present" as a cis-male. It's a role I've played for longer than I myself even realized, until relatively recently.
A few had questions. One had only a few, another had many. I was happy to answer them. It showed they really wanted to understand. All of the above seemed blessedly accepting and understanding. The one co-worker with any friction about it, was actually angry in my defense, mad that I was allowing my situation to dictate my happiness. Or, lack thereof. Sadly, I had to distract her with another topic, because it's just not fixable and too painful for me to think about, but I love her for being in my corner. Even against myself. I didnt know how much i needed that.

This just in from National TRUTH Council. This Wednesday we’re having a twitter townhall from 5-6pmPST, 8-9pmET. We will be talking about violence against the queer and Trans community including covering the topic about the Pulse Shooting in Orlando. It will be an entire conversation online addressing safety for LGBTQ+ people, especially queer POC.
Most discussions on trans restroom access have left out gender nonconforming youth, isolating many of us. Let’s change that. #transTRUTH
Apply by THIS Friday, April 8th: http://bit.ly/TRUTHapp.
The National TRUTH Council will help lead a youth movement for gender justice by working with other transgender and gender nonconforming youth to share their stories, create media campaigns, and organize with TGNC folks on a national level.
