Transness is something older than what the English language can articulate, and in this, the colonizer’s tongue it is merely a reflection of gender. The way I experience my “Transness” is deeper than gender. I experience it as a gift. As a purpose. As a rite. For me, Transness is a type of clarity. It is a connection with the healers of my Ancestors. The prophets and the prophecies. It is a reminder that I can imagine for myself a life beyond what is expected of me from others.
