Ok, if you actually want prompts, then how about "R76, dealing with the winter in the Midwest"
The first thing Gabriel notices when he wakes up is that the sun’s been up for a good while, which means Jack probably let him sleep in instead of waking him up when he left the bed. He’s bundled under so many different types of blankets that it’s hard to leave the nest he has created for himself in Jack’s childhood bed.
“Fucking cold,” he mutters grumpily as he tries to get one leg out and trips over the edge of a blanket that’s been slipping towards the floor, “Fucking Indiana”. He feels a chill running down his back as soon as he stands up next to the bed, and ends up stealing one of Jack’s hideous Christmas sweaters, the one that has a smiling reindeer and a red nose that lights up. (It’s also scratchy as fuck.)
He goes downstairs and frowns at the house being completely silent. He guesses Jack’s aunts must have been out and wonders if Jack went with them. Then he reaches the kitchen and sees him there, kneeling on the kitchen floor and trying to put reindeer antlers on the family dog, who’s currently napping and too old to care about Jack’s antlers. Gabe laughs at Jack’s attempts to wake her up for a picture and Jack finally raises his head, smiling. “Morning, Sleeping Beauty. I’m glad to see you didn’t freeze to death.”
“Ha ha,” Gabriel rolls his eyes at him, teeth chattering a little. The kitchen is too cold and he guesses Jack started the fire that's crackling in the fireplace pretty recently, because the warmth hasn’t spread yet. “I guess I deserved that. I wasn’t prepared for how fucking cold winters are here.”
“Yeah, well. You’re a California boy.” Jack pats the dog one last time and stands to go greet Gabriel with a kiss. He scrunches his nose at Gabriel’s morning breath and goes to the kitchen counter to retrieve a mug of hot chocolate. “Here, drink this. It has peppermint.”
Gabriel gasps, offended. “Are you implying I stink?”
Jack snorts. “No, I’m just trying to warm you up.”
He kisses Gabriel’s cheek before going back to making breakfast. “Drink that and come get your huevos rancheros, you oversized manbaby.”
Staring at the warm mug cradled between his hands, Gabriel smiles before taking a sip. He’s feeling a little warmer already.
