Ada could feel the tears well up in her eyes, but she refused to cry in front of this man. This man stayed with his son until childhood, only to turn around and leave without a second thought... Left his daughter before she was even born... He truly had no regrets. What a poor excuse of a man.

Ada: You’re.... You’re horrible.

Chandler: And I’m okay with that! Look, Ada, I’m sorry I hurt your family. Really. But I don’t regret the choices I’ve made... Parenting just wasn’t for me. And I don’t intend to go back on that now. I just want to enjoy the days I have left with my sister and my wife. Being a father now, after everything that’s happened in my life? It just isn’t in the equation. You came out okay. You’ve got a family that cares about you; that’s all I care to know. Now, I think it’s time you go back to them, and stop worrying about this old geezer.

Ada closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She couldn’t let this get to her--not now. Not yet.

Ada: You know..... I think you’re right. It’s time to go home.

Ada: So, you didn’t want us here. Why call in the first place?

She noted that her father couldn’t bare to even make eye contact with her. Was he really this cowardly?

Chandler: I’ve heard you wanted to meet me from your Aunt. I thought I would go ahead and nip that in the bud before it caused either of us any trouble. Respect your mother’s wishes that way.

Danyal: Hey, Dad.

Chandler: What, you’re here too?

Ada: Yeah, duh! You think he was going to let me come here without him? 

Danyal: Still a piece of work, aren’t you old man?

Chandler: Trish, help me out here.

Trisha: Oh, I wish we had had children, Chandler. Your kids turned out gorgeous.

Chandler: This is not helping, Trish.

Ada: Well, here goes nothing.....

A little early morning piano practice to wake the mind.

Ada: Goodbye, Dad....

Chandler: Listen, Kiddo. What I did? That was what was best for you. You had a good life, didn’t you? Woulda been miserable with me around. You and me were better off without eachother.  Same goes for your Mom, and Danyal, and his mom. You know what a mess that would have been if I bothered to stick around? I did you a favor.

Ada: At least you would have been there. Didn’t you care at all?

Chandler: I tried the whole sticking around thing with Danyal’s mother. I was already married before you ever came along. Don’t you think I would have at least stayed for Danyal if I actually gave a shit?

Before she knew it, Ada was swept into the home of Chandler Whitt, the man she had been thinking about since she was a child. She hadn’t even had time to tell Danyal thanks to Trisha’s pushiness. 

When she had imagined this day, this.... Was not at all how Ada thought it would happen. Just sitting here, in a foreign home, waiting for her father to finally walk into her life. She wondered what kind of person he really was. By the looks of the home, Chandler seemed to have a vastly different personality than she’d assumed. Then again, this could all be Trisha’s handiwork.... Who, apparently, was her new stepmother. Ada had a feeling today would be a little too much for her to take in. Was her nausea due to nerves, or morning sickness? She couldn’t tell.
