Fuck it. Let’s just ruin every character’s life :D
"Travis... Please, Let me in." Olympias pursed her lips as she wiggled the doorknob to his room again; something happened... She was out but Vince saw Travis come in the night before, blood soaking his shirt and he was soaking wet, trembling, crying. Olympias almost thought that Vince was messing with her until two days passed and Travis hadn't left his room. He was clearly alive; since she heard him crying and at one point, punching a wall. She presumed it was his father since it was obvious but Tyler had disproven that; She was at a loss.
"Travis... I'm begging you. Just - At least let me see you...Eat something... You don't have to tell me anything- " She'd broken down a little in her worry for him; leaning on the door for a moment as she heard his bed squeak a little bit. It took a few minutes before she heard the lock click; Travis opening the door and the light slowly revealing him as he stood with his head down, his hair a mess, He was wearing a black sweater but it didn't hide the big bruises on his neck; The shapes of handprints visible. There was a bandage on his hand, another on his cheek; His lip looked like someone had bitten it open.
Her hand instinctively reached up to caress his cheek but he flinched and moved back, shaking all over... She lowered her hand, shifting and holding up the fast-food bag she had gripped in her other hand. "Just...eat lunch with me, please?" She asked softly, carefully.
Travis relented as his shoulders fell, stepping back into his room and sitting on the bed, Olympias following behind him and glimpsing his mess of a room, it wasn't normal...Travis wasn't like that. The biggest thing she noted was what he broke; The mirror of his dresser in shards. She decided not to comment on it for the moment as she perched carefully onto his bed and unloaded the bag. It took a moment before Travis seemed to respond; reaching for some of the fries and absentmindedly chewing them as he stared at a random spot on the floor... He couldn't look her in the eye.
The silence lingered while they ate but eventually Travis began to tear up again despite trying to hold it back, desperately. As the tears began to fall he began to sob; something hurt him, broke him. Oly felt her heart tense as she wiped her hands on her shorts and moved, catching him as he leaned forward, letting his face press against her as he sobbed; rubbing his back. "Trav..." She held him carefully but warmly, trying to comfort him... "Travis you've got to tell me what happened... Please." She whispered as she kissed his head and slowly words came out between his shaky lips.
It took a while with him crying to piece it together... She knew it involved a man, a man named Malachite. He admitted he was already scared of this person and didn't think he'd cross paths with him again. Then; It got worse. Something about Travis being his 'property' and him 'doing as he felt' and although Travis couldn't admit the words aloud, Olympias had figured it out... Her heart almost breaking as she filled in the blanks; It wasn't just a beating, it was assault.
Dumpster Files: The original idea about Travis saying the trooth
Olympias couldn't quite claim Travis was avoiding her - that wasn't it. He'd been around a few days after everything hit the fan... Any anger she had boiled out fairly fast as Pan's recovery had been at the forefront of her and her father's mind. But he did distance himself enough for a couple days as everyone needed time to absorb things... Though when he wasn't at his roommates and he wasn't at her house it didn't leave a lot of options but after some thought, she knew where he'd be... They were best friends after all... The old treehouse behind Ethan's home had seen better days but the scent of coffee that lurked above her head gave him away. Her fingers quickly pulling herself up the small ladder and pushing open the door and sliding inside where Travis sat bundled up in his winter coat with a coffee cup resting on his knee and a small smile as he glanced over at her. "I was wondering if you'd find me." He teased slightly as Oly lifted her legs through the hole and scooted over beside him. "I'm sorry - " "MFH. You've said it thirty-five times... Tell me something I don't know, Travis..." She spoke quick and sharp but with lightness, she wasn't mad... Just. Tired of apology. She raised and eyebrow as she waited for a response and quietly grabbing his coffee and sipping it. "What do you want to know, Oly..? I promise I'll tell you anything now. No more lies." Oly's dark hazel eyes closed a little as she rested her head against his shoulder and began thinking of questions... "Does it...Hurt? It seemed like Oriel was in a lot of pain." She asked, her voice faltering as she brought up hurting as it worried her. "We're different. If there was a scale of demons I'd be like a 4.5 and Oriel would be closer to an 8.5... She's not as pure of a demon as her father but she's still closer to it then some of her siblings. Oriel's cursed, however - It's almost like...It's like a disability if demons had those. That's why she suffers so much. For me, it's just like a shift...I feel things move and change and sometimes I ache but it's not nearly the same. So the short answer is, Not really." Oly nodded slowly as she listened before another question came to her mind... "This is - It's part of what goes on with your dad isn't it?" Travis nodded a little. "Demon hounds are treated as a race and are discriminated against quite often. We're considered slaves and nothing more to stronger demons like, Oriel - Granted her family is blended with so many things that they're more open-minded and not nearly like that. - My grandfather was inspired by Oriel's father leaving Hell that he decided to do the same thing... The difference being that he hated humans just as thoroughly and raised my father to feel the same way. He can't stand I'm friends with you or anyone else, honestly. And that's why normal authorities and even things like - Vod's friends... Are out of the question. It's - I mean you saw what I can do..." The memory of the man's arm flying to the ground was still fresh in her mind and if it wasn't for his control she could imagine that Travis could be very dangerous... Her mind flashing back to when he turned and her eyes widening a little. "You never got any medical attention for your arm - The bullet you took - " Travis shrugged his jacket aside as Oly worried and pulled his sleeve up to show it was gone, healed. "I don't heal as you do but I also don't heal like Oriel - " He paused as he dug in his jacket pocket and pulled out two different pocket knives - something as a kid he always had on him. He usually used the red one so it didn't make sense to Oly - The excuse he'd given was simple 'If I lose one I'll have the other' but now Oly wondered if there was more to it... "Byzantine, steel." He held up the black knife in regards to the Byzantine and the red one in regards to Steel as he sat upright a bit more and flicked the black one open. "Touch the metal," he instructed her with a calm look on his face that she trusted him and gently pressed her fingers against the side of the blade - it felt normal to her. "I don't get it," she stated as he held up his fingers and gently pressed the side of the knife against them, wincing. The burn was unmistakable as it appeared on his fingers. "Byzantine is one of a few metals that can hurt demons like a regular knife hurts humans." He explained as he carefully closed the black knife and lifted the red knife, cutting his finger much to Oly's dismay at first. It didn't seem to hurt him nearly as badly as it should've though and within two drops of blood the bleeding stopped and then after a moment the wound visibly closed instantly. "Oriel wouldn't even bleed from this. You could stab her right in the arm and the knife would snap before her skin would split. It's because she's more pure than me. If she ever shows up again I'll have her show you - It's quite interesting." Oly's hand hit his arm after the knives were put away and she huffed. "That doesn't mean you should let yourself get hurt, idiot." She mumbled as she looked at the ceiling of the little treehouse as the rain pattered on the roof. "Is there...Other things? If there's demons there must be angels - Right? Pandora used to believe in angels despite dad not talking about religion with us. She said she saw one... I figured she was making it up." Travis nodded a little with a heavy snort before clearing his throat. "Angels exist. They're all a bunch of self-righteous fucks... They'll walk right by someone dying and just justify whatever religion they belong to. Human's lives don't change anything - Souls are recycled over and over again until they reach a point of judgment. Christabella Inferno is up to almost 247 lives she's lived. She's still on the fence of judgement due to her decision to marry a Demon. The librarian - Intella? She's probably in second behind Christabella. Sometimes souls are figured out early on and go to hell to become a demon or go to heaven to become and angel. But there's none of that 'eternal damnation' thing. It's more like - Demons don't even like the awful people - Pedophiles, serial killers, etc. They usually take bets on who can kill them first so they won't clog things up." Travis tilted his head towards Oly who was staring at him wide-eyed but she was taking the whole - answer to the enteral question thing well... But then again out of everyone, he knew he felt like Oly and Pandora would be the two to accept things. Pandora accepted weirdness long before normality and Oly was as much of a nerd as he was... Hence why he even bothered to learn all these things. "But there are all sorts of things - If you want I can have you meet some of them...There's mermaids, ghosts, vampires, witches, and warlocks. All of the things in the stories, for the most part, are true although they're usually misrepresented. " Travis tried to sound cheery but it was far too forced. Oly sighed and nodded a little "I'm sorry, It's a lot to take in..."
9. "Can I have this dance..?"
"Mhm...So you're trusting a party invitation from your sister." Travis asked aloud as they walked down the questionable old dock to the warehouse that was out over the water. "There's a seventy-five percent chance she's just going to dump paint on us when we walk in," Travis added; Morgan shoving past him as she grinned. "If so, We'll just have to move faster than it!" She held up her hand and Olympias snorted, high-fiving her both to spite Travis and simply to support Morgan's positive energy.
Olympias went first; rushing quickly just in case Travis was right but they found the party was just that, a party. Oly recognized a couple of kids from the art program at her college and a couple of Pan's friends, The cute couple of guys she knew, Heph? And Carter? Connor? She also spotted Vince and Pan talking off on the side.
"OLY." Pan's voice cut over the music as she waved her arms without thinking, spilling her drink partially onto Vince who cracked up if only because of Pan's disappointed expression at her empty cup... Olympias sighing and smiling as she beckoned to her twin's call. "Hey, Pan." She smiled softly and Pandora grinned with glee. "I didn't think you'd come..." She stated quickly and Olympias shrugged. "You were, right. Relatively speaking... About the whole 'need to get out more' I figured it wouldn't hurt for a little while... I brought Trav and M." She pointed behind her, Morgan had for the moment, disappeared. Travis lingered behind her as per usual...
There was the usual mingling, Oly found herself meeting Vince's old friends; Sun and Moon. A pair of twins who seemed to troll Vince worse then he trolled Travis. Her sister eventually lost in the arms of her girlfriend during a song. Trav's hand catching her's as he began to speak. "Hey, Oly. Wanna da-" Before he could finish his sentence his phone rang; a sigh leaving his lips as he pulled it out and looked at it for a moment before his shoulders fell. "One sec." He answered it, his mood fading as he talked; She knew just from how he spoke he was talking with someone in his family but she wasn't convinced it was his sister...
Travis's brow knitted, his teeth gritted as he practically growled into the phone. "I'm coming." He snapped before hanging up, his fingers falling from Oly's as he forced a smile for her. "I've got something to go deal with..." He said, She reached back out for him, taking his hand for a moment. "Do you want me to come with you?" she offered but he shook his head. "No, Oly... I promise I'll tell you afterward. I promised I'd be honest with you from here on out - I mean it. Just. I have to go right now."
Olympias felt her mood fade as Travis left, folding her arms and watching everyone dully as she debated about just going home before someone grabbed her hand, startling her a little as Morgan barely stopped herself; her sneakers squeaking on the floor. "Hey, Olympias? Can I have this dance?" She asked as a casual hostility song came on. Oly hesitated for a second, She'd danced with Pan but... She was already in the crowd before she had a chance to argue, Morgan's hands taking her's and leading; What she didn't expect was the fact that Morgan could actually dance.
Oly eventually snorted at Morgan's over the top antics to the song, falling into the dance with her; even if she wasn't as good her athletic nature let her keep up at least. Morgan pulling her close at the end of the song, grinning. Oly didn't think much of it until Morgan's lips pecked her cheek. A faint flush on her cheeks as she stepped back a little but before she could say anything, Pandora's arm grabbed her's as she started to tell her a joke or about something. Morgan acting casual made it hard to tell exactly what had just happened.
