Practice demo over. Things I've learned, not to expect anything in particular, but to be ready for a variety of outcomes. Kind of a life lesson. As A and I haven't known each other long this was probably a good practice. We chatted some about my tools, some about process (how I came to design decisions), and some about my history in the field. And I did some shaping while we talked. At Handworks 2015, I tried out a travisher made by Claire Minihan. These tools are a delight to use. They’re gorgeous, they feel great in the hand, and they work incredibly well.

When I first picked one up to try it, I was trying to make a shaving, and from over my shoulder came Claire’s voice.

“You use that tool on the push stroke.”
