“CITY CENTER MOTEL”
by TRAV MSK
From Visalia, California, TRAV MSK’s art was heavily influenced by childhood exposure to the graffiti culture of Southern California. His recent examination of the the whimsical signage of the mid-20th century reflects his interest in society’s shift from industrial to digital. For Pow!Wow! Long Beach, TRAV MSK recently explored the iconic mid-century signage of the Atlantic Ave. City Center Motel, now immortalized—at least temporarily—on the 7-story tall side of E. Anaheim St. Long Beach Security Storage. (If you’re in Long Beach and tempted to take a look at City Center’s signage, make sure to look in the alley behind the motel at Jason Woodside’s mural for the Gabba Gallery Alley Project.) @travmsk @powwowlongbeach

Excited to share the latest public art project we had a hand in facilitating: Travis Young (aka Trav) has long been one of my favorite artists, thrilled he was up for painting this new mural in Pico-Union, with support and a wall donated by the good folks at Alibi Coffee Company.
