Why am I up at the crack of dawn on a #GibSunday? Because a new pillar was added to #ToneHenge™ yesterday - an all original ca. 1965 #Traynor #YBA2-A #BassMate!😍

This has been my dream #amp of mine for as long as I can remember! OK, it has been a dream amp of mine since I saw one for the first time 3 months ago at my amp tech @marshalllespaulfan's house. The key takeaway here is: DREAM AMP. 😂

Traynor nerds will know this, but you are looking at an early piece of @traynor_amps history here, made in the first couple of years after Pete Traynor started building amps as a sideline to his repair gig at @longandmcquade in 1963. If you google "traynor yba2-a bass mate" you will find a great @vintageguitarmagazine article on this exact model. Per the article, the circuit is close to a tweed #Fender #Harvard in design. I am not sure about that...I also have a tweed Harvard in my collections, and lemme tell you - this thing is at least 5 times louder! This one is tube rectified (later models switched to solid state rectification) and sports the classic chrome "Cass Mate" insignia on the grill that makes me so incredibly happy for some reason! 😂

Double Flashback and #FrankBrothersFriday to a couple of months ago when @iamtheosdad loaned me his incredible old growth korina @frank_brothers Arcade with brw fretboard and PAF pickup. Also, just to set the record straight, in previous posts I erroneously called the finish "burgundy mist" when it is, in fact, Heather poly mist. An American-made guitar, with a French-made strap, plugged into a Canadian-made amp. Sorry 1959 tweed Princeton...July 1 is for Canada. I won't be switching you on until the 4th! 😉

My 1961 Fender Musicmaster may not the fanciest guitar in my collection, but it sounds huge coming out of @marshalllespaulfan's made in Toronto, 4 x 8 1972 @traynor_amps StudioMate amp.
