I think one of the biggest things that I have learned over this year was that you need to forgive yourself sometimes. There are times when you will really hurt the people closest to you, whether it's family or friends or even yourself, and it's won't matter how much you care about them or want the best for them. You will make that mistake and they won't ever look at you the same way again. But even when that happens, you have to realize that you can't live with that mistake as the basis of your life. If you are truly sorry for what happened and you know you would never put anyone else in that position or say what you said, ect.,then that is all that you can do. The only person you ever have to live with is yourself and if you cannot forgive yourself for being human and making mistakes, no matter how hurtful they may be, then you will never be happy. Now, this isn't the same thing as never recognizing that what you did was wrong. You need to recognize that too and understand that. But then the next step is to forgive and move on. It's a hard thing to do, but I think it is the best thing to do when you have guilt riding on your shoulders.
