New Year’s ✨
Yedam / Fluff / New Year’s
**This one’s a bit of a long one be warned
🎵 When your legs don’t work like they used to before....and i cant sweep you off your feet......du du du du 🎵
You catch Yedam humming to Ed Sheeran as you’re driving to the beach together. (side note but like um imagine yedam singing this in his buttery voice, fuck. Cliché and cheesy i know but forgive me)
You can’t help but grin ear to ear at his voice and the way he’s dreamily staring at the passing trees while driving.
“You got something on your mind, Yedam?” you ask.
“Hmm?” He says returning to to earth, only to meet your eyes for a split second and then turn away shy with those cute dimples. “Yeah, no, I’m good. Just glad I finally got to hang out with you.”
Me too, you think with a smile.
Months of hanging out together in the same friend group at school, and you had a problem. He was the boy-next-door type, only he wasn’t. He was so kind, always helping out with any project behind the scenes. He was so considerate, always making sure no-one in the friend group was left uninvited to any event. He was so charming, any girl could fall for that captivating smile, the one that you could never take your eyes off. And oh my fucking god, that voice. The sweeter-than-honey, buttery, feel-in-your-bones voice.
Only, you were just friends as far as you knew.
You remember the day he asked you to hang out with him so vividly - the way his cologne pierced the air as he led you into a quiet corridor, taking a few glances at you every once in a while as you walked next to him. The way his favourite fuzzy pink sweater brushed so softly against your arm as you were walking. The way he had his hands in his pockets, shyly looking to the ground before mustering up the courage to ask you to hang out at the beach with him. The way the corners of his smile tugged at your heartstrings.
And suddenly, it was happening. You were going to the beach. With Bang Yedam.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
**At the beach**
There you were, sandals in one hand, letting the golden grains of sun-warmed sand slip in between your bare feet as you made your way down the shoreline. To your right was the setting sun, and to your left was the only person that dared compete with the setting sun - Bang Yedam.
You both slipped in and out of mostly lighthearted banter, heads tilting to the magenta sky and hair dancing in the wind every time you laughed at each other’s jokes. Every once in a while, Yedam would glance at you and the sun would glisten in his eyes, turning them into a honey brown so deep and rich you could almost taste it.
“What are you looking at?” He asks as you find yourself unable to tear your gaze away from his eyes. “D-Do I have something on my face? Or something?” he asks shyly.
“Huh? No, no it’s nothing.” you say. But what you really wished to tell him is that he was the first thought you had when you woke up and the last thought you had when you went to sleep. That you so desperately wanted to be his, that you wanted to give him the world and so much more.
“Wanna go over to the water?” he asks.
You smile and nod eagerly, and turn alongside Yedam to walk towards the water, now crashing in waves of what the sun made seem like gold and silver. The sand grows damper, and the gap between you and Yedam grows closer together. Anticipating the crisp, cold water to rush over your feet at any moment, you shiver. Almost as if by reflex, Yedam takes off his denim jacket and drapes it over your shoulders.
The icy cold water then suddenly rushes over both your feet, and you both glance at each other, and you wonder whether he too wants to be connected by more than the water of the ocean that embraces both of your feet. After getting somewhat used to the icy kiss of the ocean, both of you decide to start walking again, this time in the water, all the while continuing your never-ending banter.
At one point, you look down and lose balance as the waves carry the sand away from under your feet. Yedam reaches out and grabs your hand to steady you - and he doesn’t let go. Confused but ecstatic nevertheless, you feel your cheeks flush a deep red and are unable to meet Yedam’s eyes.
“You’re so cute,” he chuckles. “Were your cheeks always this red?” he teases.
You playfully hit him on the arm and then continue walking with him like this for what feels like both forever and only a couple of moments - that is, until the glisten of the stars in the night sky signal to you that the sun had finally set and that the night was ending soon.
Almost as if you had read each other’s minds, you both head back to dry sand without a word and seat yourselves under the large expanse of the night sky. For a while, you sit next to him, arms and knees touching, pointing out constellations in the sky and listening to the thunderous crashes of the waves against nearby cliffs. And at some point during your star-gazing session, an alarm goes off on Yedam’s phone. You wonder why he has an alarm so late at night but in the moment, you’re too captivated by him to notice.
Then, seemingly out of nowhere, he asks “Can I sing you a song, y/n?”
“I mean who can say no to THE Bang Yedam offering to sing?”
Shyly he starts singing, and as if you were one of medusa’s seduced, you find yourself unable to move, just completely mesmerised by his voice. When he’s finished singing, you notice that you’ve been staring at him, unwaveringly.
Was I doing this the whole time? you think.
Yedam catches you staring at him, and doesn’t look away.
“Y/n, you look so beautiful in the moonlight.” He reaches out his hand to your face and brushes back a stray hair from your face. Gently stroking your cheek, he pierces your soul with his sparkling chocolate brown eyes. He then lets his fingers travel to your lips, lingering for a moment.
You both lean in, and stay mere millimetres from each other’s faces, feeling each other’s breath on your cheeks. Yedam then leans fully, softly placing his lips against yours and his hands on your lower back, holding you as close to him as possible. Feeling his plump, indulgent lips on yours, you can’t help but feel a flutter in your stomach. You had wanted this for so long - and it was finally happening.
He pulls away after what seems like a moment frozen in time,
“Happy New Year, y/n. Be my girlfriend?”
