@geopsych this for the treasure hunt series of Jan 25
While traveling for a business meeting, I stayed at a hillside hotel in the northern Himachal region of India. My room was on the 7th floor, and to my surprise, I found a small, hungry monkey waiting on my balcony. I couldn’t comprehend how he managed to climb so high, and I froze for a moment, unsure of what to do.
Gathering myself, I grabbed some apples from the room and offered them to him. He eagerly devoured three of them, one bite at a time. As I stood there, watching him eat, I couldn’t help but notice a deep sadness in his eyes. He seemed lost, yet there was a quiet resilience about him.
After finishing the apples, he looked at me with an expression I can only describe as gratitude—his eyes meeting mine, silently thanking me. And just like that, he disappeared, leaving behind a moment that I’ll carry with me forever.
Sometimes, life gifts us these unexpected encounters, reminding us of the connection we share with every living being.
