Treat everyone equally
Okay everyone listen up! Lately I was told by a friend that it was more offensive to be called short then to be called tall. Now for all who don’t know, I am quite tall for my age, and as a girl. A lot of people comment on that. I have never taken offence to it because it’s just always happened. But I started to wonder then, why it is taken as a bad thing to be called short. People literally call out to me in the supermarket or at school “WOW your so tall!” But I have a friend that has almost the opposite. So I asked my friend why it was that people can be called short and its offensive but when I’m called tall - even by people who know me and know I’m tall - I am expected to take it as a complement, even if they are just randomly shouting out descriptions of my height. My friend replied that it was probably something to do with a pack mentality you know how the runt gets killed first or whatever - while the biggest is the strongest. And that just didn’t sit right with me so I asked again. Why? He answers, Because people don’t get bullied because they are tall case they are more intimidating. But I disagree because, you see. Lauren Jackson (a very famous female basketball player) left home to the AIS when she was 16, through a scholarship, and that she was being bullied for being tall. And so I asked him, if a woman is beating her husband, should he not receive help because he is a man and he is meant to be the strongest? What I’m trying to say is this - no matter whether you are tall or short, man or woman, thin or wide, there is no excuse to treating you different for things that you can’t, or do not wish to change. You should all get help and support when needed, and even if you are not a victim, you can always help others by making sure that they know that they are beautiful. Please share this message, because everyone deserves to be helped and treated with respect!
